Trains Board Book

This book, and the Trucks book also by Byron Barton, are FABULOUS! My two year old son absolutely loves them. The images are simple, educational, and fun. My son likes to look and "read" these books himself and will make up small small stories about what the trains are doing and where they're going. He also likes the close up of the train cars, especially since on is carrying a truck and another is carrying bananas (two of his favorite things). The actual words within the book aren't all that exciting or educational, but seem perfect for a one to two year old. The simplicity is part of the appeal.

I just purchased this book for my train-loving nephew's 3rd birthday. Even though I loved the vibrant colors, I was worried it might be a little "too young" for my nephew as I wrapped it. But what a hit it was! He wanted to take his train book to bed that night and in the morning, we heard him talking quietly in his bedroom. When I went in to "wake him up" he was laying on his stomach in his bed, turning the pages of the new book, "reading" it out loud to himself. And he asked for it to be read to him several times together over the weekend. When we finished, each time he'd say "That's a good story." Though "Trains" was his far and away favorite, he also liked the other two Byron Barton I bought with it, "Machines at Work" and "Trucks." He'd "read" them to me. They are perfect books for the boy who loves things on wheels. I'm looking at his "Dinosaurs" book for Christmas.

My son loves Byron Barton books. Came in excellent condition. I'd recommend trucks and machines at work to other boy readers.

My son is going through the "things that go" phase and loves this book. With simple language and illustrations, this straightforward book introduces many things related to trains (tracks, station, conductor, etc.) and mentions the different kinds of trains (passenger, freight, electric, steam, etc.). For a board book it is really well constructed, with nice, thick pages and a glossy finish. It has held up well to lots of reading.

Great book for toddlers about trains

This is one of the most requested books at our house by our 2-year old. His brother, who is almost 4, still enjoys reading it. Simple, yet full of interest, with plenty of places to be creative in exploring the story beyond the words. For example, there is a town the train passes through with a dog in the scene. Two points to the houses and says house. Four asks, which house does the dog live in? Just about every page is like that.

TRAINS is a huge hit for my 1yo. Maybe it's the very bold illustration style that draws him in. He picks this out frequently and wants me to read it over and over again. That said, he seems to like Byron Barton's book TRUCKS even more, so if you are deciding between the two, I would choose TRUCKS. (It also shows more varied scenery of city life.)

My son loves these Byron Barton transport series. We originally purchased the Planes book a couple of years ago for his first long haul flight. He was only 10 months at the time but I believed that the simple, straight forward pictures prepared him a bit. We read it for a few weeks before our trip and then each step of the way I would flip to a relevant page and point out familiar surroundings. Now that he is 3 and is obsessed with anything on wheels, the Trains and Trucks books have been added to his favorites. As he grew we were able to delve into more detail, explaining the scenes. He particularly loves the train crossing page as we drive over tracks daily and often are one of the "cars that must wait".

My son loves this book! He loves many of the Byron Barton books and this one is no exception.

Nous avions déjà quelques livres de Byron Barton dont nous aimons beaucoup les illustrations. Celui-ci plait beaucoup à nos enfants fans de trains. L'anglais est très simple et permet de leur apprendre quelques mots de vocabulaire. Le livre est en carton, assez solide pour les plus petits.

2歳2ヶ月の息子に買いました。書かれている英語は１ページに短い一文ですが、私が読んだ後に息子も真似して言っています。"Here is (are) ..." で始まる文が多いので、それを普段の会話に応用して覚えてもらえるかもしれません。例えば"Here is your nose" のように体のパーツを覚えたり、"Here's your car" とおもちゃを渡したり。大好きな電車の絵がいっぱいなので、お気に入りです。「英語のお勉強」的な要素を期待するなら他にもいい本はあると思いますが、英語の発音に慣れる事を目的として買ったので、その目的は十分果たしています。子供の好きな乗り物系の絵本を他にも何冊か買いましたが、これは文章も短く単純で2歳の子でも発音でき、一番よかったかなと思ってます。また、ボードブックなので小さくしっかりしていて、手荒に扱っても破れなさそうです。他のシリーズも購入したいです。
