Alright For The Price
I ordered 2 sets. Both came slightly bowed on the long axis (one more than the other), but the steel plates are just thin enough they can be flattened with some careful force in the middle using a solid bar to push with, and one end of the stone propped up a bit. If yours have this issue, go incrementally with amount of force, and recheck often with a straight edge until it looks flat. They are as flat as I can discern along the width of the blocks. Probably not even an issue for sharpening knives, but for flattening the backsides of chisels and planer blades, the flatter the whole surface of the whetstone, the better. These are much better than those 4 sided cheese graterish diamond sharpening blocks at Harbor Freight and Amazon. I could feel the waviness along the surface of those. Not an issue at all with these. They do start out feeling rougher than 600/1200 grit, but two chisels broke them in. Probably just excess diamond particles that weren't embedded in the steel, but rather caught between particles that are fully embedded. Since these are half the price of the thicker diamond plate whetstones on Amazon, plus 2 grits on the block, I'll still give it a 4/5 for the money spent.

Not as smooth as expected
The stone arrived in time. It feels quite hefty for its size. Well made. The feet are actually non-slip.But, my gripe with the product is that the grit feels much rougher than I had expected. I already have a 600 grit stone and that feels much smoother than the 600 grit side of this new stone. It actually feels like it's between 300 - 400 grit. The 1200 grit side is rough too, albeit a little smoother than the 600 grit side.I used it on my santoku which already has a great edge but not the mirror polished edge. My older 600 grit stone puts a great edge with a decent shine. I was expecting the 1200 grit face of this new stone to make it look better but I was disappointed. The shiny edge is gone and it looks like I dragged my knife over a concrete block. I was using soapy water as a lubricant to give the best chance to both the stone and knife.I'll keep using the product, trying to break it in. I'll come back and change my rating (to better or worse) depending on what results I achieve over time.

I like this stone a lot
I like this stone a lot, however the casing around the edges seems a little tight meaning I mis-stroke and end up running up the plastic on the side instead of the stone. I'm getting used to this but it is a little limiting. Since I am just learning though I realize that I need to work on my technique a bit more to avoid this, I was spoiled with an earlier stone where the sides didn't meet flush with the stone.Otherwise this is a great product. Specifically great at starting on a rougher knife and taking it to the point of where you are ready to use a fine stone to finish it off, this stone does not go as fine as you need but most people I know have two stones for this anyway.

good value
I am new to sharpening, but for what it's worth:- It seems like a convenient size. Larger than needed for a pocket knife, but good for a 5" blade, and not awkwardly large to store.- It comes with no instructions (no comments about whether to use dry or with water or oil), and the usual English misspellings on the box.- The stone can be removed from the base to hold in your hand. The base comes with a clear plastic cover for storage.

Wouldn't recommend.
Not sure if i just got a defective product or what but my experience with this product has been really underwhelming, bought the stone to flatten my waterstones and to use it for rough sharpening to be able to apex my blades easier,However the first few strokes on the 600 grit side of the stone i noticed some of the "diamond dust" or "diamond flakes" whatever you want to call it actually came off the stone quite easily, through repeated use i noticed more and more flakes/dust just peeling off and have since stopped using the stone, Would definitely not recommend this particular product.

... that I ordered that I received quickly and in excellent shape. I used it immediately on my ceramic ...
One more product that I ordered that I received quickly and in excellent shape. I used it immediately on my ceramic knives that I purchased from Walmart. I do not know why but the ceramic knives sold in the stores are consistently duller than the metal knives. I was able to change that immediately with this whetstone! Afterwards my pocket knives, kitchen knives, and every other blade was sharpened. Did not use oil as recommended but kept a damp rag near me to wipe the surface of as necessary. Regardless of price this was one of my best purchases. Thank you DMD, very much! David

great customer service from seller and amazon
The only thing that impedes the process of sharpening a small knife is the plastic band that keeps the 2 grit attached to each other , the shank on the knife rubs on it other than that seems like a good quality and the seller gave me a full refund and amazon also reimbursed me for return shipping .

Works great, but plastic edge should be a little lower
Works great, but plastic edge should be a little lower. It would be awesome if it sat hire in the base.
