Would only recommend about half the book
My 4 year old has a few of the other Scholastic workbooks for 3-5 year olds and they are perfect for her preschool level. I was excited to order this book because she could use some more practice with her shapes. However, I am not impressed with this book. I’m not sure what the writer’s obsession was with eggplants but what preschooler knows what an eggplant is and what color it should be? Only adults typically know that one and it’s not because it’s their favorite veggie. Other objects used for the matching pages are difficult to answer because each of the items could be multiple colors. Birds can be any color of the rainbow, so can guitars and roses. Even cats and leaves can be multiple colors. And if we are getting technical, the whale is gray, not blue, but that’s not an option. I sent the pages to adult friends and they were also surprised it was included in a preschoolers workbook. It was difficult for them to match the objects for the same reasons, each item can be many colors and thru process of elimination they could eventually narrow it down. I’m not sure why the writers wouldn’t chose fruits or items that are obviously one color and easy for a preschooler to match. Even in the “yellow” page it has you circle black/white objects that should be yellow and has a picture of a bucket. My kids have red buckets and blue buckets and yellow buckets. Again, not cut and dry what color the objects should be. Some of the pages are great and make complete sense to a 4 year old but my second grader didn’t know how to answer some of the questions in this book because too much of it is up to interpretation. Even tho there are a few decent pages, I can’t recommend this book at all because most of the pages are confusing or useless for a kid.

Great Easy to follow learning tools for pre-school children!
Great books for my 4 yr old nephew that lives with us; however this one arrived wet and damaged! :(. I will say he loves these learning workbooks and it is helping us prepare him to start school in the fall. I especially like the easy to follow instructions for simple and fun mathematical problem solving! Id also like to get a Grammar book for him to learn writing and letters. Id recommend it but suggestion to seller; you may want to ship these in a waterproof package as it arrived sopping wet and wrinkled and 2 pages are useless as they stuck together. :(.

Helpful aid for school
We have our son do these at home when he comes home from school to help give him an academic jump start. Not too difficult either, the age range is right on.
