A great little read!
I love books for what they reveal, and this book, which is sort of a series of vignettes, introduces us to an extremely interesting, talented author and a way of life with dangers and satisfactions so unlike my own. A number of included photographs help the reader's understanding of the beauty and horrors of life working on a fishing boat in the Bering Sea. Thanks, Capt Jack, for the stories!

Capt. Jack takes you with him, beautiful story and photos
What an incredible read. Read it in one night. Capt. Jack takes you with him in the trials and victories in dangerous waters. My uncle’s plane, the Rivet Amber, went down in the Bering Sea. It was an emotional read for me. Follow him on social media and see his incredible photos. If you’re an Eagle lover, you won’t be disappointed!!

Be swept away on the Bering Sea with Capt Jack
Jack you did an amazing job on this book. I've followed you for years on fb enjoying your eagle photoghrapy as well as that of other wildlife. I remember back when i first heard you worked on a fishing boat. I had a tranquil picture in my head. Then i saw a picture you posted in the Bering Sea with waves swallowing up the boat . It made my heart leap at the dangerousness of what you do. I've always enjoyed the stories that you told about each picture you posted. I knew you had a gift , but nothing prepared me for your book. Your words andvdescriptions bring it all to life. Your life. The sights, the smells, the biting cold and treacherous conditions were right there. I held my breath, i hung on for dear life lol. I felt fear well up for you and your crew at times. I rejoiced as you triumphantly made it to safety or pullled up an amazing catch. I can see the lessons you learned and their importance of them if you wanted to live another day. You are right Jack, "You cant make this stuff up ". It comes from first hand life experience. I'm not sure how you survived it all but I'm so glad you did. Thank you for sharing your life's adventure with us. I absolutely loved the book. I highly recommend others to read this grand adventure on the Bering Sea. I was totally swept away into the life of Capt. Jack

If you are an armchair adventure junkies, this is for you
Have always read anything having to do with water, boats and adventure. As a teen my favorite book was called “Dove”. Youngest to single handedly circumnavigate the globe. This book offered a look at the responsibility of the Captain fishing in the Bering Sea. He describes how he realigned his thinking so he would not be the “screamer Captain”. He learned to stay in control of his emotions in order to keep his crew safe, happy and respect the ship owners millions of dollars of boat and equipment. He also tried to teach young deckhands the ropes with respect and empathy. It is a tough life life but his stories let you see the real life experiences.

not just another fish tale! Captain Jack's brilliant storytelling and photography
Imagine yourself sitting in a cozy old pub, with old fishermen warming gnarled fingers on endless cups of coffee, the smell of fish and chips in the air, tinged with the faint smell of Captain Jacks cigarillo. He sits in a well worn chair opposite you, his hair ruffled from the salty sea air. There's a twinkle in his eye, as he shares his life's stories with you. Your mouth occasionally falls open, your heart flutters in anticipation as you hold your breath, scared for the captain and crew. You sit in disbelief as Captain Jack quickly chuckles and shares some pearls of wisdom while taking sips of strong coffee. Captain Jack has somehow managed to bring that feeling to his writing. You feel like you could be in that pub, as he recounts harrowing memories of his many years at sea. This was a highly anticipated book from a brilliant storyteller. I hope many people take the time to read this amazing book. Captain Jack's photography is as good or better than his incredible storytelling. A MUST read!! Thank you Captain Jack for sharing your story. Kimi

A book that shows you a part of this world not many get to see.
The only thing I would regret is that the book is too short. Well written, interesting and it shows that in a rough environment you can still lead with a heart and soul. I hope there will be a continuation of Jack's life story. I have followed Jack Molan on FB because of his beautiful and amazing bald eagle pictures. Then he posted various landscape pictures of Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. For somebody who always likes to go into warm areas his pictures made me want to travel to these parts of the world. I am sure I don't want to go to any of his fishing excursions in the Behring Sea. Seasickness and pure fear will always prevent me from that. But nonetheless, the book gives you some very good idea how strong humans can be and how important a good team is and a strong leader who leads this team through vicious storms.

Good read
Loved this book it was well written and as an ex trawlerman found it very interesting. He sounds like a great skipper to work with and a really decent man. Great stories set in the dangerous Bering sea and the only disappointment for me was the book was too short, I hope he writes another it was great story.
