Gagging no more!
I have been using the Plackers Stop Grinding dental night protector for just over a week now and I am really impressed. I have had to use a dental night guard for over a decade. Up until now, I have been those NTI-TSS dental guards that the the dentist makes and that snap on to your upper few front teeth. I have gone through 4 of those things over the past 7 years and the cost each time has been prohibitive, has increased each time and has never been covered by my dental insurance. IMHO, it’s a racket! Between NTIs, I have tried more “traditional” mouth guards, but my gag reflex is so sensitive that I could not keep them in my mouth for even a few minutes, let alone all night. Even with the tiny NTI on my front teeth I still had gagging issues and woke up almost once a night sleeping on top of the device. Other downsides of the NTI included discoloration of the molding material inside the device and snoring due to my mouth being held open. Ick!!On to the review of this product and why I am giving it 5 stars. I use it on my bottom teeth and while I initially had a little gagging it is small enough that once I close my mouth and relax, I’m fine. Using the Plackers guard, I sleep with my mouth closed and breath through my nose, so I am sleeping through the night. I wake up in the morning and the guard is still in my mouth, right where I put it the night before. It cushions my back teeth away from each other and the rest of my teeth can’t touch. On my old NTI devices I broke through them, because I was still grinding my front teeth and wearing down the plastic ridge. With this guard my back teeth are sitting on a little textured pad and they can’t slide to grind, so my jaw feels relaxed in the morning. It is designed to be disposed of daily, but I have used this one for several days and it shows no signs of becoming ineffective, discoloring or breaking down. I clean it every morning in some mouthwash. At this rate, I think I can use one for about a month. It cost $8 for a two-pack, so even if I decided to use a new one each month that would be only $100 per year and that is over 4 times less per year than the dentist-provided devices. So, no more expensive dentist products in my future!! Woohoo!

VIDEO in review! Great for grinders with braces. Stays in &lasts!
The media could not be loaded. I bought these for my tween daughter who grinds her teeth really bad when she sleeps. She has all of her adult teeth, as well as braces, so I really wanted her to have something to stop the damage that her grinding is causing, and help with her headaches that she's starting to get. The dentist didn't try to upsale us one, which I appreciate, and instead sent us looking retail. I would have bought her a full one like she had when she was younger, but because she has braces now, and not a small mouth, I was worried it could damage her braces, so I decided to try this style first, and so far we're both happy with this choice. My daughter was worried at first that it would come out when she slept, but it's been over 2weeks, and she's had zero issues. These are listed as a disposable 1 night use, but hers is still in good shape after 2weeks. I plan on having her use each one until it starts to actually wear down. That was another concern, because I really wasn't planning on purchasing these that often. It would just be too expensive that way, so I'm glad that they aren't wearing out fast, making them an affordable option.I had my doubts at first, because there really isn't much to these, but that's actually the positive thing about them. If you grind your teeth, have a problem with the full mouth piece for breathing or gagging issues, or have braces, give these a try before spending crazy money thru the dentist. They're working for my daughter, and I feel so much better knowing she's able to get better rest, and don't have to worry about her teeth, braces, brackets, or wires breaking with this design. I'm glad I found them, and will update if anything changes.

but it probably is a great device for someone who has not lost any teeth
You definitely need to have all 32 teeth to wear this properly. I have both right and left back two teeth missing, due to years of Bruxism; and I wear a bridge to replace the missing teeth. I wore this for an hour or so before I went to sleep, but it would not stay in place. It kept slipping, because its too flexible, had nothing to grab on to, and it is small enough that I was afraid to choke on it in the middle of the night. Sadly, it may work if I could use it with my bridge, but the dentist advised me NEVER to wear my bridge while I slept. I was really hoping this would work for me. I'm not giving it 5 stars because it doesn't work for me, but it probably is a great device for someone who has not lost any teeth, yet.
