Scott & Bailey - Series 1-5 Box Set [DVD] [2016]

Beware. This dvd set is a German product. The show is in English, but the subtitles are in German, a definite drawback if you have hearing issues. I see no warning of this on the site; if I had, I'd have bought the UK ed.

This dvd was produced in Netherlands. It has English soundtrack and Dutch subtitles, which can be switched off. However,each of the 5 series are on up to 2 discs, labelled DVD1 and DVD 2 but there is no indication which relate to which series - a massive oversight and enormous inconvenience.

The series is quite good and well worth watching. It is a police/detective show from a woman’s perspective. A nice change from the usual man’s oriented series.Amazon’s marketing though makes no mention that there are no English subtitles. Such subtitles should always be available for the hearing impaired or to simply make it easier to follow what is being said without having to crank up the volume.

This has subtitles in Dutch. I rely on subtitles as I am hard of hearing. Why oh why is this box set being sold in U.K.? I find it outrageous and totally frustrating...useless to me, I might as well throw it away.

Lots of comments about these DVDS. My set are indeed Dutch, so English soundtrack with Dutch subtitles. At the bottom of the episode selection screen, set UNDERTITELING to UIT. That turns the subtitles off. There are nine discs and they are only labelled in sets of two - disc 1 and disc 2 - apart from the last one which is all of series 5. My discs were in the correct order and were :Series 1 episodes 1-3 and 4-6; series 2 episodes 1-4 and 5-8; series 3 episodes 1-4 and 5-8; series 4 episodes 1-4 and 5-8; series 5 episodes 1-3. And series 3 includes episode 7 which is missing from most sources for a reason I have not been able to determine. If you still struggle, check the production dates on the discs. Series 1 & 2 are 2011, 3 is 2013, 4 is 2014 and 5 is 2016. I hope that all helps. And, by the way, it’s a brilliant series!

I wish I'd read the other reviews that mention this. It is not the box set shown in the picture, it is a German version. You can switch the German sub-titles off and just watch with the original English soundtrack so not a complete waste of money (unless you want English sub-titles) but I wish it was clear in the vendor description so I could make an informed choice.The series itself is great. I'd seen lot of odd episodes but wanted to watch from the beginning in the right order. It definitely made a lot more sense of the story line.

Cagney and Lacey for the twentieth first century. Locating it in Manchester was a glorious 'hole in one'. Suranne Jones was just the 'icing on the cake'.I wish that I could identify the traits the make me like this series so much; but I can't. It is a simple 'cops and robbers; series, much like 'Cagney and Lacey'/ And yet it is not.If you have a penchant for 'detective' TV, then give it a go. You will not be dissapointed

This is without a doubt the best police drama that's ever been on tv,all of the story's are fantastically written and the acting is top notch ,none of the stories are far fetched,and some of the diologe between Jones sharp and bullimore is very funny ,if you want a series that once you start watching you Carnot turn of till end of disc then get this , you won't be disapointed
