The good, the bad, and the ugly!
This book is written very weirdly to me. It seems as if the book is written for people who want to start a small business but then it also seems like it's written for people who already have a small business and may want to learn more. Sometimes the book comes off more technical as if you already have some sort of accounting knowledge. However in some cases it comes off very elementary when explaining the different aspects of accounting. Nonetheless this book is very helpful if you are into a text book style of learning. Meaning that you'll probably have to write some things down and study them before it actually clicks in your head.

Highly Recommended For Small Business Owners or anyone starting out with accounting!
I am just starting out with my own small business. I found this book incredibly helpful! I Learned so many things that I hadn’t even thought of. A must read for anyone starting out with their own small business. It was a decent read too. It was very easy to follow along with and written in a simple and easy to read format. I was able to get through it relatively quickly. A topic like this could very easily be boring and difficult to follow, but this book keeps it upbeat and light. For someone who has never had anything to do with accounting, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I actually liked reading this book.I was particularly liked the way they explain cash flow and the costs of doing business. It helped me greatly in setting up balance sheets and just better understanding small businesses in general. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has their own small business or is just looking for a better understanding of accounting.I was given this book for free with the understanding that I would provide an honest review and feedback. It just so happens that it was a topic that I was interested in.

Great explanation for small businesses
This book is a great overview of the key accounting concepts a small business owner needs to understand. While reading this book, I was easily able to write down a checklist of the financial information and forms I will need to keep track of and tax details I should do further research on. It doesn't go into excessive detail on the calculations that can be handled by software, but gives clear explanations of what I need to understand to manage my business.

All the basics to getting your business going
One thing I was good at in school, and wanted to go to college for, but did not have the money...accounting! While I do not own a small business, I would love to open one up in the future, and of course that is going to take accounting skills. Looking through this book made me realize how long I have been out of school, and how much there is to re-learn. I feel that this book is an awesome start for a first time business owner and covers all the basics you will need to know to make your business run smooth and keep track of gains/loses. From Income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, taxes, wages, and everything in between. Within the book are grids, so you can see how everything is actually setup, which is great if you are a visual learner like me. This book has 121 pages of great information that I plan on reading over now and then to keep myself informed, for when I am ready to start my own business. And if I ever get back to school, I'll be ahead of the game.I received this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion

This book is a great starting off point for those who don't know what ...
My husband and I own a small business, and one of the hardest things to do is the finances! If you are a first time business owner, it's hard to know where to begin. This book is a great starting off point for those who don't know what to do with their business finances. I have also learned a thing or two for my direct sales business. This book is broken down into chapters and has topics that are easy to understand. It contains charts, tips and tools to help you out. I highly recommend this book.I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

I really wanted to enjoy this book.
While there were a small handful of useful concepts, I found much of this book did not apply to me. Being a sole proprietor in a service-based business without employees, I found many of the topics to not be applicable to my situation.I suspect had I been involved in a more complicated entity or if I had employees or had I been involved in sales, that I would have found it more useful.

First half useful, second half rushed
I got a lot of great info out of the first half of the book. But the second half felt rushed. Terminology wasn't as well explained and I was lost and confused. Not a bad book. Just not as simplified as I needed.

Easy way to learn about accounting
A choice for students looking at learning accounting or someone looking to start a business. A concise guide on what accounting is all about. It breaks down the steps and components of what accounting is all about and why things are done. There are samples of what components look like so you can get a better understanding. It will help you understand the terminology of accounting. The book does not touch of the types of accounting software able. You’ll have do your own research for software. I did get the book for free.

Does what it says on the tin, in simple terms...
I wanted a book which told me in simple terms how to set up, analyse and report on our small business accounts. This book does just that. While this book may have been written initially for the US, the principles and terms of accounting outlined really are so similar it doesn't cause any problem. It has helped us to set up the double entry accounts and reports needed to file our tax returns, which is exactly what we needed.
