Too sweet for us
I really, really wanted to like this book. I bought it about a year ago to get some ideas while my then 2yo was food fussy. I made the slow cooker tagine hoping to only make one meal, I bought all the ingredients and followed the recipe to a T (rare for me): my daughter could care less for it and it really didn’t have enough of a flavor punch for my husband and I.I have also tried the smoothies and some of the snacks and have found that they use too much sweetener. While I love honey (and maple syrup) and believe in its medicinal qualities, I don’t think that a smoothie with 2 oranges, 1/2 cup of cherries, 1 cup of orange juice needs two tablespoons of honey - again, followed the recipe to a T and my suspicions were right: it was too sweet.I now use the book more of an inspiration source and adjust recipes for my taste - and if that’s what you’re looking for, then this is a great book for that!If you’re on the fence about buying the book, maybe try out some of the recipes from her blog first and then you’ll get a feel for whether it’s to your taste or not.I also have to agree with previous reviewers about the index being a little off, I was looking for a smoothie that contained orange and cherries but because neither of those fruits were in the name of the smoothie it took me FOREVER to find it in the book!

My favorite baby food cookbook and guide!
I have really gotten a lot of use out of this book. My baby has eaten everything I have made him from this book. I've been using it since he started solids at seven months and he's 12 months now. I also use The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet: Know What Goes Into Every Bite with More Than 200 of the Most Deliciously Nutritious Homemade Baby Food ... More Than 60 Purees Your Baby Will Love , Start Fresh: Your Child's Jump Start to Lifelong Healthy Eating , and Naturally Delicious Meals for Baby: Over 150 Fun, Fresh, and Easy Recipes to Nourish Your Baby and Toddler by Hawes, Gerrie [Da Capo Press, 2005] (Paperback) [Paperback ]. Little Foodie is my favorite because the recipes are close to what I myself would want to eat, which I think prepares my baby for eating with the family. The book is broken down into six sections:1. The food you eat- smaller2. The how-to chapter3. Purees 4+months4. Finger foods, snacks and smoothies 9+months5. Our meal is your meal 12+months6. Dinners on demand 24+monthsI like that the chapters are broken up by age group, which makes it easy to look up recipes in an age range. It also gave me a lot of courage to make up my own recipes based on what I have on hand instead of just heating and pureeing frozen vegetables.

I am constantly using Michelle's website- Thought I'd buy her cookbook and it didn't disappoint
LOVE LOVE babyfoode.com. I use it every week to make different purees for reusuable pouches (because those pouches add up!) and I adore her combinations. If your goal is to have a wide palate for your kiddo (as much as you can really control that), get this book and use the site. Anywho, I thought I'd support her by buying her book and it did not disappoint! I love that it goes from baby to toddler food and that I can eat most of it too. Bought one for my bestie's little who just started solids. Thank you, Michelle! Love your work and will be using your recipes for a long time to come.

My favorite !!! LOVEEE IT!!
Love this book!!! Love love love it! I don’t like to overload my boys with sweet tastes, but this book is filled with surprising and delicious recipes! Best part is that if you don’t blend them- the recipes are great for entire family! Our toddler eats everything and we have twin babies who have loved every recipe! We love them too!! It’s fun to make something a little fancier than just plain food for them once they have accepted and like the basic simple flavors. I got this book when our first son was already 1 and so I’m trying the initial purées for the first time with the twins - soooo good!! Can’t recommend this book enough!! Sometimes I adapt the recipes slightly so that some are a little less sweet, but overall - this book has delicious written all over it!!

Great cookbook!
I LOVE this book--afnd my 7 month old son loves it too. I've tried almost all of the recipes for 6-9 month old babies and am so excited to make good quality, flavorful food for him. The recipes are simple, although not too many pictures if that's something you're looking for. Some of the ingredients may not be things you'd typically have in your pantry, but it's relatively easy to swap them out for other ingredients (i.e., use kosher salt instead of Himalayan salt if you don't have it...although I recommend it!). I never thought my son would devour pears, oats, cloves and dates but he loves them all pureed together! And I know that I'm giving him a wide range of tastes for his little palate that he will hopefully translate into a great eater when he's older. I'm definitely not the type of mom who will be cooking a separate meal for her child than the rest of the family. If you're in the same boat, get this book. It's my 3rd baby cookbook and I wish it was my first, because it would have been the only one.

but this amazing book pairs all the purees with an herb or ...
When I first started reading this book I thought I wouldn't learn too much, my kiddo just hit the 1 year mark and we are part purees so I though well probably not much here for me. Boy was I wrong! First and foremost I thought I knew a lot about purees, but this amazing book pairs all the purees with an herb or spice to enhance the flavors for the little ones, I would have never thought about it! I also love the idea that they have that we should think about our kids as just little versions of ourselves and that they should eat essentially little versions of what we eat. I think that is just an amazing idea, where most of us are thinking that babies and kids need special foods and to be different, but they really don't. Some helpful things I also came across in the book were reasons to cook at home, what foods to not give to the kiddos, when and how to introduce both purees and solids, storing purees. I also love that the book is broken up by age, that is so helpful! I am excited to dive into the 12 month section, then the 24 month section. Two recipes I am so excited about for the 12 month section is the sesame tofu stick and health shepards pie. I received this book for an honest review.

Nice
Nice book, laid out nicely. Could do with more finger foods for between 9 to 11 months. Overall it had some good recipes in it and easy to follow.

Not as good as expected, unfortunately
I don't think the content of the book is very well organised or laid out. There were a few good ideas in there, but nothing you couldn't find for free on the internet. Some of the recipes were too far out for me, maybe I'm just not posh enough.

Her boy is over 1 now and she has made almost everything for him and he has gobbled most of it very happily. My friend loves the book
I bought this for my pregnant food obsessed friend. Her boy is over 1 now and she has made almost everything for him and he has gobbled most of it very happily. My friend loves the book, I'm really pleased I got it for her.
