Simon Peter: Flawed But Faithful Disciple

Thank you Adam Hamilton for another great study. We also ordered the video to go with the study. Our group decided the book was amazing, but definitely recommends getting the companion video to go with it. Hearing from the author himself and seeing some of the places mentioned in the text was super helpful to "make it real".

Having went through the “24 Hours That Changed the World” DVD and book study this author wrote a few years back, when I saw this book on Amazon, I was intrigued. What a fantastic book! I love the unique approach of focusing on Peter in the Gospels etc. and what comfort you offer any equally flawed but desiring to be faithful Christians. And while the focus seems to be on Peter, like the Gospel writers themselves, this book masterfully brings Peter’s stumblings right into Christ’s teaching points. As a bonus, there’s a ton of information about the first century culture, Hebrew and Greek language points and apologetics in the book that all just combine to make this work a masterpiece and a must for anyone’s bookshelf. In short, this book is an easy read and a pleasant, informative and comforting reading experience. I'm looking forward to doing the DVD and leader guide study that go with this book.

I just completed a Lenten study on this book for a group of elderly women. We thoroughly enjoyed the book and learned so much about this flawed but faithful disciple. I liked the way each chapter was based on a scripture reading, which made it easy for discussion and participation. As the leader though, I was disappointed in the leaders guide. The activities did not suit my group ( more for junior or senior high students) so I just created follow up activities that the women would enjoy. I would highly recommend this book for a group study or an individual read.

Adam Hamilton has outdone himself on this one. I have ALL of his books. I ordered this one before it was published, suggested it as a study for my Tuesday morning group, and now he, Hamilton, has a bunch of new fans. If I can get a good price on multiple copies I may order several to just hand out to people who could use HOPE. I am so thankful for this book. The world needs to learn, from and emulate Peter.

We’ve used several of them in my church, and they never disappoint. I’ve enjoyed reading this one. I’ve liked the diagrams as well. Photos in this book are useless. Black and white pictures. I can’t make out any detail in them at all. Others in the group have same complaint. Might help if they were bigger. Only about 1/4 of the page. I’m using a hard back copy of the book. We are using the film that goes with it, which is excellent and shows everything the photos were supposed to.

Really good historical insights. Loved it.

Illustrated, clear descriptions, historical

I teach Bible class at an assisted living home and this is the best book I have found about the life of Simon Peter. My class, all in their eighties and nineties have found this book to be very easy to read and understand. Great pictures also.
