MizunoYouth G4 Samurai Catcher's Helmet, Cardinal

After a lot of research, both online and at our local fields, I decided to get this catcher's helmet. It didn't hurt that it was on sale as well, so it was an even easier decision. This is a very well made helmet. Great protection and the padding on the inside is very comfortable. I didn't measure my sons head before purchase, but I did use his hat size, so I knew it would fit. What I wasn't counting on was how tight the back piece was/is. Once the helmet is on, it is super comfortable, but getting it on and off isn't as easy as some of the other helmets I've seen. My son doesn't reach up and toss this one off, as I don't think he can. The back plate comes attached with two elastic straps, and I think I have loosened them as much as they will go, but it's still snug. I've seen other players with this exact helmet, and they can take it off really quickly. So either I'm missing something, or the straps just need to break in a little more; I'm not sure. Other than that, at $100, this was a fabulous helmet for my son's first year of catching. I'd like to get him the whole Samurai set, but the leg guards were a little long for him right now.

Good fit, quality catcher's mask, fits the kiddo really well. Would recommend!

i purchased this, the Easton ProX, and the Rawlings Velo2. I chose this one because it had the most full fit around my face and the best site lines, including being able to see up a little higher than the others. I'm an adult with a small 7 1/8 head, so going with a Youth seemed a risk, but it paid off. I had to open up the straps all the way, but like the fit so far.No ratings on the heat-factor - seems like good air vents, but won't know until I put it to test on a hot day.

Son says it fits nicely. One of the straps is slightly ripping but I am pretty sure he tried to tighten it not knowing about the locks. It gets 4 stars because there were two scratches on it when it arrived. Not a huge deal it’s a catchers mask that will only see more but for the price you assume it arrives without any marks.

Little tight on the catchers ears when they try to pull it off quick

If your child fits this helmet, they have an adult size head. Doesn't come close to fitting my 10 year oldest head. Disappointing....

All goid except the straps are very hard to out in and off. Especially the helmet. We ended up leaving ione side unbuttoned so my son could take it off when needed.

Great mask. Daughter is 12 and a tall girl. Fits easily with room to grow. Don't think even as she gets older that she would need the adult size.She also prefers the chin pad vs other models.

Compré un juego completo de catcher para mi hijo, pero el casco que venía incluido resultó muy pequeño. Este casco mizuno es de muy buena calidad. Ha resultado muy resistente y cómodo. Comenzó a utilizarlo a los 8 años me parece que al menos le durará hasta los 12 años con un ajuste adecuado. Muy recomendable.
