USB Type C Hub Adapter for MacBook Pro 2018 & 2019-2016, MacBook Air 2018 and More, 6 in 1 Dongle with SD Micro SD Card Reader,3 USB 3.0 Ports,USBC Power Pass-Through Charging Port

My new laptop only has 2 USB-C & 1 USB ports -- but my external drives, etc. are all still USB. Also I use SD and micro-SD cards a fair amount, and at home I have a large monitor on my desk with an HDMI connector. So this little gem of a hub fits my needs nicely. It's compact, and its silver & black match my laptop. Runs a little warm sometimes but I keep it off flat surfaces and so far all is well. Good product, good price.

This Usb-c to HDMI dongle is just what i have been looking for. So far works great and the price was extremely better than the ones Apple sells. Also the Apple branded ones don’t have the best customer satisfaction and this one recieved 5 stars. So far i see why and i may by another as a backup since i am a corporate trainer and use my Mac for work when training events, this comes in extremely handy. For a Bonus I also like the fact that it is the same space grey color as my 2016 MacBook Pro.

So far I've used this for USB 3.0 ports, full-size SD reader, and ethernet, and it seems to work pretty well. I still need to test out the HDMI capabilities. USB seems to work well, and the PD input passed power to my laptop without issue. One significant issue I encountered, however, was with a wireless keyboard/trackpad combo from Microsoft. It seemed to work extremely sporadically, often working less than it worked. Interestingly, though, I plugged in a USB keyboard and it worked flawlessly, then plugged the dongle into the built in hub... and suddenly the Microsoft dongle worked like a charm. I experienced the same issue with a Logitech Unifying Adapter, too, so if you use wireless keyboards/mice, you have been warned. I've heard of situations where USB 3 ports have compatibility issues with some USB2.0 devices, so you should be aware that some USB2.0 devices may still work wonky or not at all. Since this only features USB 3.0 ports, your mileage may vary, though I don't specifically fault this adapter in general. Color wise, it's a nearly flawless match to my space grey macbook pro. Additionally, it has the same harsh edges as the macbook pro. You can decide for yourself if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Other than that, you plug it in, it seamlessly does its thing. It's quite marvelous. I'm hard pressed to find something comparably nice performance/quality on the market. The only thing I kind of wish is that the USB port next to the SD reader slots was USB 2.0 for aforementioned compatibility issue. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with my purchase!

Works for hooking a HDMI monitor to new MacBook Air 2018 model. It also charges the laptop when I plugged in the charger through this.I have not tried any USB2port yet, But I see no reason why it should work to plug-in older back up systems or iPhone downloads.It seems well-made and does not get hot, only warm in my light use of it of checking emails and web surfing.

I just received the hub so obviously I cannot comment on long term durability but the aluminum housing and cable seem very robust. I checked both card slots and the three USB ports and they all functioned. I plugged an Apple USB-C wall charger cable into the hub while it in turn was plugged into MacBook Air 2018 which then indicated it was being charged (passing through the hub). The documentation that came with the hub says it can pass up to 100 Watts for charging laptops (that would be 20 Amps at 5 VDC). Keep in mind that the wall charger then becomes the source for powering any devices plugged into the hub which will consume a bit of charging capability, this is not unique to this hub. I am please with the purchase and would recommend it as worth a try for MacBooks.

Glad there was no set up required to use this cord it was directly plug and play to attach a projector to my Galaxy S9 for screen mirroring.
