So much better than a pull string. We installed this latch right at elbow level for easy operation when our hands are full. Our old gate feels new again. This latch was a major upgrade. It's solid metal and well built. The spring mechanism feels like it will last for years. I Highly recommend this latch.

This latch works extraordinarily well. When the gate closes, you hear and feel a sturdy snap. There’s no chance that you’re going to leave the gate open. It was easy to install and came with sturdy lag bolts. The only downside is there is a very attractive handle on one side, but on the other side of the gate the handle is not ornate. It works fine, but they could’ve put the same handle on both sides. This is one of the best home-improvement projects there is for $30.

I had a fence built years ago and used some really simple hinges on the two gates. I replaced them with these in about 5 minutes each using a small drill bit and a ratchet. The other style I had was very sensitive with alignment and had to be adjusted multiple times over the years. This one seems to be a bit more forgiving since it is spring locking instead of gravity. The open/close and latching of this is super smooth. A+++ would buy again. *Note: My 6ft wide gate had a much larger post in the ground to secure it too. The latch has a L shaped piece of metal on the back which is supposed to extend past the post. I had to hammer that back L flat and break the piece off. Once I had mounted everything is still felt incredibly sturdy and didn't affect the way the latch works in any way.

I installed this on my 10 ft steel gate door. Install was very easy because latch came with self-tapping screws. The latch is really solid and holds the large gate securely closed. My only wish is if they would have done a complete weld around the latch stud as this is the part that will take the hardest hit when closing.

This lock is extremely quality. It makes the previous lock looks doll house one... I like that unlocking mechanism — by metal lever. No more strings, etc. My precious lock never latched. This one closes with a satisfying “clunk”. Only thing to consider that the locking hardware is thicker and you need 1/3 to 1/2 inch gap between gate and post. I didn’t have that so I had to chisel a bit of the post and the gate. Complicated the installation a bit but well worth it! Great self locking mechanism!

I’ve used this type of latch on 3 different gates in my privacy fence (double gate is pictured). It’s great for allowing access from either side, and you can add a padlock on either side. Very durable - they’ve seen heavy use for over a year now. (Note that if using on a double gate like in the picture, you still need to use drop rods / cane bolts at least on one of the gates, because this latch alone will not hold both sides shut. Single gates are no issue.)

I ordered this latch with another item and ended up having to order twice. The original shipment was returned to shipper (Amazon?) due to damage in transit and never arrived. After waiting for Amazon to sort this out, I reordered. Both items arrive in a timely fashion. This latch was exactly what I needed, installed without fuss and securely latches my gate exactly as I needed. It also allows easy opening from each side and the ability to attach a lock on either side of the gate. Very pleased

Easy to install if you have a cordless drill. Metal is thick so it's nice and sturdy and the spring has good heft to it so the action of opening the latch feels good. Excellent latch, definitely recommend.

After someone kicked through my unlocked gate, luckily my dog is part Corso so chasses them out.... I had to upgrade. This was the best solution, lockable, easy to use, good fit. Recommend.

I have ruined multiple gate latching sets due to them mostly being light metal and when the wind catches the door if it’s open, bends the bar back and after bending back is generally weaker and will need replacing. I bought this set specifically because it has a self locking feature and the bar piece that goes in is solid metal welded to a plate. They also provide self tapping screws with bolt heads that are very solid. Took about 15 mins to set up and the gate now stronger than it’s ever been. Would definitely recommend.

Was great to find a gate latch in black. Works well and is easy to use. Only issue is that I have only had it installed for a few months and the black screw which came with it have started to rust which is surprising so will have to replace them soon.

I have used many different type gate latch in my life. This latch is very solid and easy to install. Everything is okay but only one thing is the screw. The screws that come standard with this gate latch are, in my opinion, the wrong choice by the manufacturer. We're installing this on wood, but the screws tear through the wood too much, preventing a secure hold. The serrated tips of the screws chew up the wood, leaving little material for the threads to grip—this happens even when using pilot holes. I even tried making the pilot holes larger, but the overall joint strength of the screw is still not great. It would have been better if they had provided screws without serrated tips, or at least smaller serrations and longer screws. Other than that, it's generally a good product.
