Matt FraddPocket Guide to the Rosary

Well-written and a good companion to praying the rosary, especially if you are not familiar with it. Not only does this offer contemplative passages about the Mysteries, but it also offers passages to focus on that can help you relate the Mysteries to your own life.

I bought this because I like Matt Fradd's writings, and it's not available on his website. I was expecting your basic Rosary guide- that's NOT what I got- what I got was so much MORE than just a guide!Fradd walks you through Scripture pieces and explains the type & anti-type for each and the multitutes of comparisons mentioned in the Bible (most none of us have even noticed or put together ourselves). Even within the first Mysteries section, I'd learned more in a few pages than I ever did in Bible Study to-date! I cannot recommend this book enough. It's a fabulous addition to a home library, or as a gift. Just buy it!

This guide is very well made, easy to use and the size is just right. You are getting what you pay for with this one. It has been coming everywhere with me along with a 1-decade rosary, and it's been lots of use as a result.

Back in the early days I don’t remember very little on how I prayed the rosary. And either a bunch changed or I was doing it wrong all along lol.First off, I love the aesthetic of this little book. The nice blue leather with the gold stamped design. The double satin ribbon bookmarks, and the illustrations within are all beautiful!I like the guide of which days to contemplate each group of mysteries. And I also appreciated the small summary of each and a guide on what to think about for each one. This was really helpful as someone who was basically starting from scratch.The guide in the back on the walkthrough on HOW TO pray the rosary was nice. I’m a visual person :)And the prayers are organized well and I really like the Latin translations of each prayers too. That’s my next step to learn.I guess some reviews are mentioning the price, but I’ve had this booklet for almost 2 months now and I’ve used it everyday! So I’ve gotten my money’s worth.If you’re starting from the beginning or need to relearn, I highly recommend this pocket guide.

I liked the book content because it really gets you into the mysteries of the rosary on such a deeper level. It also has a “personal application” at the end of each mystery, which is so helpful for meditation. The only thing I don’t like is how it is bound. It’s difficult to keep the book open where you have to stop. I can predict that this is going to come apart later. It would have been nice for it to be spiral-bound so the book can stay open.

Great meditations!! Love having different ways to meditate on the mysteries and this is very helpful. There's 3 sections for each mystery and I break them up in different days.

Other reviews are saying that this Leatherette book has a low quality cover and newsprint. I don't know what they were expecting, but I've paid more for a book with the same description and received a lot lower quality. The paper is not as thin as newsprint. It could stand to be a little thicker paper and still be pretty compact. I know I'll be using it a lot so a thicker cover and paper would be a nice improvement.As for content, I think it's wonderful. It covers all basics in detail that's easy to follow. It also includes the Luminous Mysteries and instructs which mysteries to pray according to the days of the week. While the personal application sections are a great place to start, I'm still yearning for more specific examples of that personal application. Ascension has been providing a great service with live streaming of praying the rosary during the Corona Virus Pandemic, and so many Ascension volunteer rosary leaders have provided so many wonderful examples to meditate on. I lined space in each of those personal application sections would be a fantastic addition for further meditation.I was lucky enough to get this for a screaming deal late one night. I was able to get a second for myself. It's definitely going to be a go-to gift for sacramental occasions.
