These are good calipers for the price and perfect for home use. They are sturdy, accurate and the digital display is nice (in, fraction and mm). The calipers slide well when measuring and look great with the black background.

This review is for NEIKO 01407A Electronic Digital Caliper | 0-6 Inches | Stainless Steel Construction with Large LCD Screen | Quick Change Button for Inch/Fraction/Millimeter Conversions. Let me start of by saying that if you need a gauge that is highly accurate and highly precise, you are going to need to shell out some good coin for something like a Mitutoyos. I picked up this NEIKO caliper, because I wanted something that was quality and not expensive. This caliper has been excellent so far. It is stainless steel, which was a must. I want it to last, and I wanted something more precise/accurate than plastic. I also wanted something digital for ease of use. This gauge is extremely easy to use. You can scroll through millimeters, inches, and fractions of inches. The display is also easy to read. This also comes with a nice storage case, one battery installed, and a spare battery. The owner's manual fits inside the case, and there is room for a spare battery in the case. The only thing I can say remotely negative is that the installed battery arrived dead, but the spare battery was good. I've already used this multiple times around the house for various things, and I wish I had bought one of these sooner. It has been extremely helpful for multiple projects.

The Neiko Electronic Digital caliper is accurate and easy to use for measuring any thing that requires precise accuracy. The digital display is clear and makes it simple to read measurements without guessing. It feels well made for the price and has held up great with regular light use. Switching between measurement units is quick and convenient. However, the battery often loses connection, causing the display to flicker or reset unexpectedly. Reseating the battery usually fixes the issue, but it can be annoying when you’re in the middle of a project. Overall, it’s a good value and performs well most of the time, but the battery connection problem keeps it from earning a full five stars.

The caliper work well and good quality. Super easy to use, read and easily adjustable. The caliper are sturdy and stable.

Great affordable calipers for basic hobby work and 3D printing. Obviously they aren't going to be as accurate or quality as machinist calipers that are 4x or more expensive, but they work for my purposes.

Honestly for the low price of $25 I didn't expect much out of these calipers. I figured they would be cheaply made with way to much play in the jaws or slide key... But they aren't! I couldn't believe how well built it was. There was absolutely no play in the slide even at full extension! I've had mitutoyos that had more slop. The measurements are dead on, it claims accuracy at +/- .001 and they weren't kidding. I used a .010 gage block as a reference measurement and the neiko calipers measured it at .0100 I mean if that's not dead on I don't know what is. The fractional readings are also an absolute bonus! finally no more wasting time having to convert a decimal value to a fractional number. Anyway with all those positives I can still point out a few negatives that should be mentioned... The slide itself has no play, with that being said it's so tight in the slot that you can feel it kind of dragging or just not sliding smoothly cause of the friction build up... No problem! Oil the slide with a few drops of air oil, clock oil, or a light gear oil. Do that once a week or monthly pending how often you use them and that slide moves like butter. The next negative is the buttons, they don't always register when you depress them... Again it's not really that big of a deal but if it doesn't work 100% everytime then regardless it's still a problem. The last and final issue is probably the biggest and this is going to really depend on the application your using these for... But the jaw tips are fairly thick, significantly thicker than the jaws on a set of mitutoyo this does limit your ability to get those jaws into super tight spaces. For instance if you need to determine the shank size on a small bolt say like a 1/4 - 20 the neiko calipers jaw tips will not fit between those threads. So in hindsight, that really does limit effectiveness. If you need that kind of flexibility and absolute precision obviously mitutoyo is the way to go... If you don't save yourself about $175 and buy a set of Neiko digital calipers! Last and final opinion... I was reading through several of the previous comments and alot of people seemed to be complaining about screen issues or zeroing issues.... Did yall ever happen to think "oh well maybe the battery is dead or dying"??? These calipers come with a battery already installed, and who knows how long they were sitting on a shelf before being shipped out. Batteries don't last forever folks! My best advice is when you get the calipers delivered first thing you need to do is just simply change out the battery with a new one. They take LR44 and will also accept SR44 batteries. So buy a set of neiko calipers today, go get you a pack of LR44 batteries tomorrow, stare out the window, and wait for that Amazon truck to roll on up!

There's some debate over whether or not the item arrived within the 2-day shipping window, but I'll put that aside for now. The digital caliper comes in a dark grey/black plastic case that snaps together (9 3/4" X 3 1/2" X 1"). Mine came with a hairline crack in the lower left section, next to the hinges. Upon further inspection, the crack became larger, and ended up being a piece of plastic 1" long in my hand. Nothing a hot glue gun couldn't fix, I guess. Still, disappointed a brand new product arrived in defective shape. Unacceptable. That's the negative. However, the working part of the package is actually quite functional. The Neiko Tools, USA digital caliper is accurate to within 0.03mm/0.001", and has a repeatability rate of 0.01mm/0.0005". The small, one page folded owners instructions advises the owner to take three separate measurements, then take the average of the three for greater accuracy. The LCD display screen (1 1/2" X 1/2") is large enough for almost anybody, but it is not back lit. It came with one silver oxide 1.5V LR44 battery installed (supposedly good for one year of continuous use) and a spare as well. The screen will flash to warn of a low battery. In addition to the inner and outer measuring caliper is the highly accurate depth measurement probe, made of the same hardened stainless steel. The caliper is equipped with a serial output for interface with a host computer or printer. I haven't tried that yet, but that should be interesting. Note: It does not come with the corresponding serial output cable. The screen has an auto off function to save battery life, and comes on automatically when being used, or you may choose to use the on/off button, and reset zero. The display can be zeroed at any point on the slide. The display can instantly be converted from SAE to Metric and back again with a press of a button. The caliper itself is made of hardened stainless steel. On the back of the LCD screen is a metallic, adhesive sticker with a couple of tables of screw thread standards for your convenience. I don't foresee these coming into play for me, but one never knows. More information, in the right context, is a good thing. As for ergonomics, the machine-grooved thumb-roll mechanism makes it easy to operate, and the position lock for sure readings works reasonably well. All parts are superbly crafted, from the precision ground jaws to the lettering on the back scale. This is a delicate instrument. One must be willing to take one's time and learn to operate it smoothly. It's ever so very sensitive, ready to measure the tiniest of things. If you're not interested in anything past the the first decimal, then maybe a tape measure will be more to your liking. Also, remember to give this tool a little oil maybe twice a year, if you're using it frequently. It will corrode eventually, like anything else. Overall, very pleased with it. Almost gave it a four because of the darn case being broken and all. If treated properly, it should serve you well for many years to come. All this for under $20!

I bought this because I kept reading so many different thickness measurements for materials and I wanted to figure out if some of the materials that I had already purchased would work in particular machines. For instance, the Silhouette Portrait will only cut materials up to 0.8 mm so when I was looking at chipboard and whether or not it would work in that particular machine, people would have so many different measurements that I just couldn't figure out if a product was worth purchasing or not. I have a bunch of different materials that I have purchased over the past and did not end up working for me, so I got this to measure the thickness of those particular things. First, let me address the quality. It seems to be of pretty good quality. It is sturdy and moves easily (doesn't get stuck when trying to open or close). The digital readout is big and is extremely easy to use. There is a red button under the digital readout that you can push to turn it on or off, but it also automatically turns on when you slide it open. You can set the zero on it to any point which might come in handy for people that want to measure from a larger point (like comparing the exact same items to see if there is a difference or something). The case is OK... It is sturdy and it doesn't feel like it will break easily. It is plastic, but not a thin plastic. My only complaint about the case is that it looks like a tool case! haha. I will have to add some color to it and make it look less like something my husband might want to steal. It is also a little difficult to open at times for me but perhaps that's because I'm used to the easy girly tools. ;) There was a battery already installed and an extra one in the case. It uses a LR44 button cell which is VERY common in kids toys so I have a huge backup of batteries for this thing. Those batteries tend to be rather expensive if purchased from a local store for some reason. They are often times seen in watches and that's usually the department we would find them in when we used to shop for them. I actually found them cheaper on Amazon and ordered 100 batteries for less than the price of 2 at the local store. So, maintaining the battery for this should not cost a lot of money. I have one major complaint with the design of this and it has to do with the battery compartment. I realize that there is a spot to put your thumb to slide the blades open for use, but I tend to put my thumb directly onto the top which is where the battery compartment is. So, I almost always slide the cover off. I don't know why I do this and it probably has to do with the fact that I use other items that require that type of maneuvering, but it IS something that I do and other people might as well. Although it doesn't technically hurt anything to do that, the battery can (and will) pop right out of there if you don't catch yourself when you are doing it. For the most part I don't have problems with that happening, but I'm confident it will at some point. If there is any chance of this getting redesigned in the future, I would make it slide a different way so there is very little chance of accidentally sliding that cover off at all. It's a little irritating but not so much that I regret the purchase... because I really like this caliper! As for the price, I think it is well worth the money that I paid for it. I'll be using it like crazy to give some accurate measurements of items that I have seen incorrect information on and it will save me time and money on products that I try to create with my different machines. All I have to do is keep it away from my husband now!

Very nicely made Caliper. The added bonus of it showing fractions has already been a handy feature I have used a few times. The bottom line is this, if it became non-functional through my own carelessness, I would buy another no-question HOWEVER..... after two months of use I am finding the two font sized readout very annoying, Otherwise it has worked well but I do not understand why it was decided to make the second, third and fourth numbers after the decimal half the size . If someone only needs it for coarse measurement then having the first two numbers predominate makes sense but I personally find the two sized readout less than Ideal and I am looking at other calipers that show the readout all in full size

The materiality is great, it looks and feels like a quality item however I have owned it for approximately 6 months and in that time I've used it perhaps a dozen times. It is stored indoors in a steel work bench inside of its hard carry case. Now the digital display is glitching and does not maintain a reading. Edit: turns out a battery replacement solved the issue

Valoro su precisión en función del uso que le requería y hasta el momento responde perfectamente (para un uso profesional de mucha precisión entiendo que hay que ir a otra gama de precio). Me ha desconcertado que ni en el embalaje, ni en pequeño impreso de instrucciones, aparezcan referencias de la marca más allá del nombre y el logotipo. Me he informado en internet y NEIKO es una marca China de herramientas conocida, especialmente en EUA (que también fabrica en Taiwan). Buena relación calidad-precio.
