It was a good basic overview
This book gives you a good overview of what it is and what it's for. It's nice that the author talks about different methods of keeping a book of Shadows. The little bit of history was interesting. However, I took off a star for the condescending tone over people who use computers instead of writing it by hand. She failed to take into consideration this is not necessarily a decision some people want, but have no choice due to health issues. I had carpal tunnel syndrome at a young age and arthritis by thirty. It's excruciating to write much these days. If I'm going to keep one, I have to use my computer. For others, computers and other electronic devices are the only way to hide it. Not everyone gets the luxury of being out of the broom closet. While the craft might be constitutionally protected in the United States, it doesn't mean people are open minded. Even the most so called open minded people look at you funny or step back if you say you're a witch.

Great New Book for Beginners in the Craft! Wicca Book of Shadows, by Lisa Chamberlain
This couldn't have happened at a better time! I just bought my first blank book from a Wiccan online shop, to use as a Book of Shadows, and then, in checking my order, ran across an e-mail from a Wiccan website I belong to, which allows members to review e-books for free, and this is the first book on my list! I guess you might say, Goddess works in strange, and magickal ways.Wicca Book of Shadows, by Lisa Chamberlain, is a fast read, easy to understand, and yet full of good information. It covers the history of the Book of Shadows, from the time of the ancient Grimoires of Magick, to the coining of the word by Gardner, up to the technological age of computers and phone apps. Lisa Chamberlain clearly explains what goes into a Book of Shadows, what types of books to use, resources available, even types of paper and whether to use quills and ink, a calligraphy pen, or even crayons and markers, depending on how elaborate you want to make it, and how talented you are as an artist. She also discusses the pros and cons of using technology, and whether it is best to make a choice between handmade/handwritten, or computerized, or a combination of both. She even includes a short protection spell to protect your Book of Shadows from unwelcome observers, while allowing those you choose to share it with...and a list of some of the arcane ways you can confuse other people from reading it in the first place, such as magickal alphabets such as Theban, for example, numerology, sigils, etc. But, with this being a very basic beginner's book, she didn't go into much detail about the many arcane alphabets, but really, with the internet, if people are really interested, they can find out more about that online.I highly recommend this book for any beginning Wiccan, witch, or pagan who is interested in having their own Book of Shadows. And, I am looking forward to creating my own.

Wicca Book of Shadows by lisa chamberlin paperback edition
This book has a little bit about the history of books of shadows or as they are commonly referred to these days Grimoire but its mostly gread towards tips and tricks on starting and keeping your own. I love that the author add a DIY Grimoire section. The front is your standard size. The paper is a nice quality and thickness. This book comes recommend by me or beginners and Vaterns alike.

Beautiful step by step guide for beginners/seasoned Wiccans
This book shares a vast amount of knowledge on how to compile your own Book of Shadows without strict guidelines. The author offers you various techniques to choose from while reminding the reader that no matter how you choose to put your BOS (Book of Shadows) together it will be the right way so long as it feels right to you. The book is thorough without being confusing or boring. With it only being 70 some pages it is full of useful information and a quick and easy read for anyone, be it a newly found Wiccan or a more experienced one. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to start their own BOS or if you're like me and have to read every bit of information you can find on the subject of Wicca, witchcraft, or Paganism. Have a wonderful day. Blessed be!

save your money
i was really excited to pick up a bunch of Lisa’s books on wicca~ i’ve been practicing witchcraft for years, but when it comes to wicca as a religion and some of its practices, i really wanted some helpful information in one, neat place. i ordered this book along with a few others of hers... and i was incredibly disappointed.i see Lisa’s name everywhere, from tarot to wicca, and she always has really great reviews. but i think she has her hands in a few too many pots.. there’s next to no helpful/new information in her books. i understand these are “beginner guides” but the book reads like a published google search. i read this one specifically in about 45 minutes and did not learn a single. thing. it’s beginner in the “never even heard of a book of shadows” type of way. most of her writing is filler and repetition. i could go on forever about how unhelpful this book was.save your money, you’d be better off learning this info from blogs or youtube.

A beautiful book, excellent information...
Ms. Lisa Chamberlain gives her readers lots of excellent information along with plenty of choices and options for writing ones own Book of Shadows. This is a great book for a new practitioners, and she also gives ideas that many of us advanced practitioners could possibly find interesting and informative. Especially the section on "21st century Book of Shadows." I highly recommended this book and author to all Wiccans and Pagans whether if you are a beginner or advanced practitioners solitary or coven. This will either teach you how to begin or give you possibly some great new ideas. Happy writing everyone. Blessed BE 🌛🌝🌜

Great BOS Guidelines
Chamberlain divides this book into three parts: History of the Book of Shadows, Creating Your Book of Shadows, and Using Your Book of Shadows. The quality of the writing is very good. You might think keeping your own Book of Shadows would be pretty straightforward, but Chamberlain provides some interesting bits of trivia and simple ideas that I feel like I should have come up with myself but haven't.

Creative book
A small book on how to create your own book of shadows. It includes a definition of what a book of shadows is and how to create your own. Includes a discussion of technology today in relation to using it to create a book of shadows.

Thin, but enjoyable
This is a thin volume, but I enjoyed it very much. A good beginners aid look at setting up your own Book of Shadows. It isn't a step by step how to guide as Lisa's books are very much ""free flowing". She says what CAN/MAY be added, not what SHOULD, as is the case with all her books I've read so far. They are all very much "this is only one way. and see what fits with you" type of guide. Read more

A great little book
This short book is a great source of information about starting a Book of Shadows. The information is clear, easy to read and understand and covers everything you need to know. Useful either for a complete beginner or someone going back to Wicca, I'd definitely recommend reading this at the beginning of your journey.

A good practical introduction to Wiccan philosophy.
Haven't read it yet (it's for Xmas, as controversial as that sounds), but I love Lisa's books. They're practical, down to earth, & explain things very well for a learner of the 'Craft'. Having bought & read Lisa's 'Wicca For Beginners', I found her style easy to read, informative, & with a common-sense appeal. This is one of seven of her books I have bought for the holidays (& for my wife to wrap up for a Xmas present, I like presents I've chosen for myself) & I'm sure that eventually I'll end up with a full set of all her books.
