Good advice here but beware
I liked this book for its content and recipes. I didn't give it 5 stars because the writer should have mentioned that if you haven't been eating healthy then you try his high fiber recipes...well, be prepared for frequent trip to the bathroom. Otherwise, a great book.

best healthy cookbook ever!
I have been mostly vegetarian for over 40 years and only included dairy, eggs, and a small amount of fish for animal-based food. Generally, I've steered clear of legumes because they didn't appeal to or agree with me. My teenaged son has had a heavily meat-based diet because that's what he seemed to need growing up (much to my chagrin, especially early on when I realized the veggie diet wasn't working for him). About a year ago, my son became interested in adding more vegetables to his diet to improve his skin and general health. So I ordered this book, with low expectations, as I already have a TON of recipe books that have been disappointing (too many ingredients, recipes that don't turn out well or take too much time, etc).To my great delight, this book has been a GODSEND. Take or leave the information preceding the recipes if it's more than you want to know. Personally, I found it helpful and motivating. You can quibble about "the science" if you want, but most of us can agree that it's beneficial to add more plant-based meals to our diets. The recipes are amazing because they are simple, quick to make, and my picky family likes them. Even the legume recipes are delicious and digestible! Most of the ingredients are available at my local Kroger (i.e. not a specialty store). Plus many recipes have beautiful photographs, so you know what they are going to end up looking like.I read some of the negative reviews about this book. Keep in mind that you can just use it to add a few new healthy meals to your diet. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. I almost never leave a review on anything I buy and feel compelled this time because this book has made such a positive difference to my family and me.

Both great recipes and informative writing!
I had recently converted to veganism and this book is the best guidelines and even has sample daily menus to use if desired. Also talks about intermittent fasting which I always intended on reading about. SAve the Planet - Go Vegan!

Perfect for anyone considering a plant based lifestyle
If you're considering or just curious about a plant based lifestyle, this is the perfect book. Borges shares his very relatable, first hand testimonial on how he arrived at a plant-based lifestyle. Many of us share the same stories, we grew up being told that "our family have bad genes and high cholesterol is just something we need to face and medicate for." Borges experienced the same and took his health into his own hands and empowers the reader to do the same, and that we all have the ability to turn our health around in a radically, positive direction by simply choosing a plant-based lifestyle. Borges provides all the answers to all the FAQs plant based newbies will have and also provides some incredibly easy and delicious recipes that you can cook at home and share with your family. This book turned my life around and I'm sure it can do the same for you!

Recipes in small serving sizes
There are two people in our family and nearly all the cookbooks I have, have recipes that serve six or eight people. The recipes in "The Greenprint" are for two or four servings.Secondly, in many of the recipes Borges offers a tip on what to do with extra batches. For example in the Chickpea No-Tuna Salad Sandwich recipe he says, "Make a large batch of no-tuna salad to have on hand throughout the week and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days." This helps me as a beginning cook. Finally, the ingredients in the recipes are readily available in the grocery stores at which I regularly shop.I've followed a whole-foods plant-based diet for a while and this book was recommended by a friend who is a new vegan; I appreciate the tip.

Obsessed!
This book has been incredibly informational. I gave up meat products over 12 years and have been a pescatarian. Then went dairy free last year (life-changing!) This year I am committed to go completely plant-based. The change has not been difficult at all and I feel even better than before. The challenge is making more than just salads and quinoa bowls for meals. Plant based does take more effort and planning, but I know it will get easier and more creative as I continue to try new recipes. I purchased several books, and this has been my top for recipes…although I wish there were more -- hoping the author will have a follow up in the future – or a cooking show – we need plant based cooking shows!! What I love most about this book is it creates excitement for making the change to plant based eating, while teaching the reader basic rules in a concise manner, leaving a take away message with every chapter.

Boring, mostly salads!
Was very disappointed in this book! It did not contain the exciting recipes I expected. I am better off compiling my own cookbook with exciting recipes that will make people actually want to try them, than wasting money on a book like this.
