Great Espresso Replacement for Pregnancy
I cut out caffeine during pregnancy and bought these so I could still enjoy my morning latte. I use these beans in my espresso machine, and I cannot tell the difference between this and standard caffeinated espresso beans! A tip for getting a good shot of espresso is to grind these finer than you typically would for a caffeinated bean. I have a Baratza Encore and set it to a grind size of 6. I found you get a smoother, richer shot with a very fine grind. If it is too thick it can taste a little more watery or bitter. Using the finer grind, the espresso these beans produces has a really good crema and is rich and smooth. Even after pregnancy I’ll probably continue drinking this since it tastes great and doesn’t give me any caffeine jitters.

LOW Caffeine content, exceptional taste! Cereal lovers must buy!
Machine - Delonghi La Specialista Arte Evo Grind Size - 4 WDT + 30lb Calibrated Tamper 14g IN 20g OUT First of all - I'm very very new to espresso. I was recommended that the Lavazza Super Crema was a great starting point for the time. Being new to making espresso from the bean, I was actually very impressed with the Super Crema so much that I wanted to drink coffee the whole day. In comes the Lavazza DEK. Using the built in grinder from the La Specialista - I have no real control outside what the machine is capable of, so I guess I'm happy with it. It is a little clumpy from the grind, but I use a WDT tool to break it apart! I read that the DEK has anywhere between 2-8mg of caffeine, so it is pretty light. I try to limit my caffeine intake to around 600mg per day, so this bean is great to have through the day and at night after dinner. Opening the bag smelled absolutely delicious. The first thing it reminded me of was cereal. I actually had no idea that was part of the note, but yes - cereal was VERY apparent. It smelled wonderful. I paired this with Oatly Oatmilk Barista edition, and my goodness it actually tasted so frickin good. Literally cereal. I am also surprised that this is dark roast - I had no idea. Again, being new to coffee, I'm actually unsure if all decaf beans are dark roast, but it was exceptionally light on my palate (maybe the milk?) and I was very pleased by it.

Decaf but Full Flavor!
Quick Summary Verdict: Excellent decaf espresso beans that don’t feel like a compromise. Rich flavor, great crema, and a perfect option for cutting back on caffeine without giving up a good espresso. What I Liked: * I purchased these because I’m trying to reduce my caffeine intake but still wanted an espresso that tastes like the real thing * The flavor is rich, smooth, and well-balanced without the flat or watered-down taste that some decaf coffees can have * Produces excellent results in my espresso machine with a nice crema and full-bodied flavor * Makes it easy to enjoy an afternoon or evening espresso without worrying about the caffeine keeping me awake * Consistently good quality beans and easy to dial in for espresso What Could Be Better: * Coffee preferences are personal, so those who prefer very dark, bold roasts may want something with a stronger roast profile * Like most premium coffee beans, the price can be higher than standard grocery store options Who It’s Best For: Anyone looking to reduce their caffeine intake without sacrificing flavor. Especially great for espresso drinkers who want a quality decaf option for afternoon or evening drinks, or for those trying to cut back on caffeine while keeping their coffee ritual intact. Photo evidence of all 3 layers of the espresso! Heart body and crema!

The riches tasting decaf available on Amazon
I'm serious about coffee. Of late have moved over to a anit-inflamatory diet so tried out a number of decaf coffees. Having grown up in Europe and Africa I am used to rich, deep, dark roast coffees. This Lavazza Dek hit the spot. Used it in the Breville making double shot Americanos and Latte's. My favorite however, for morning coffee, is using the Keurig machine with Keurig Pod (see pics). I use a Rounexes grinder on 2 cups (lowest it will go) with grinding at between fine and medium. I lightly tap down the coffee as I spoon it into the filter and at end use a coffee stirrer (has little metal barbs on it) to ensure water filters through the coffee since the pod, unlike the one that comes with the Keurig that takes pods, only has one water outlet. Overall: Taste is smooth, rich, defininetly not burned like a Starbucks, somewhat less bold than I would eventually like but very similar in taste to Savaya, with very little acidity. I have noticed that during clean up of the Pod, it is a bit more greasy than others I have used.

Fresh and flavorful
I've gone through 2 or 3 bags of these decaf beans. The last bag was roasted in April of this year so they were about 3 1/4 months old when I received them on August 2nd of this year(2026). They were vacuum packed and the bag was sealed tightly and has a valve to let co2 out. The beans brewed well on my Breville Oracle Jet. I grind them on a Rancillio Rocky that I guess I've had 20 years.I keep regularly leaded beans in the Oracle hopper. The shots I pull have lots of crema and are easy to dial in. I do a double shot in a 16oz thermos with 2% milk and 3 sweet n lows. This producers a very tasty "latte" that really tastes like it has caramel syrup in it. And as long as my "dial-in and prep " is consistent, it always tastes this way. I love it. Friends who have tried it agree about the way it tastes. It's just about my favorite bean, leaded or unleaded. I really recommend these beans to anyone who likes decaf. Go ahead and try a bag, you might agree!

Amazing! Be patient with dial-in process
This is an amazing tasting espresso blend considering the fact that it is decaf. I try to limit my caffeine use to a few times a week and this coffee is a great option for those who like espresso, but can’t have caffeine. Taste is a very subjective thing. This is why I never take reviews at their face value when it comes to product involving ‘taste’ we are all different in that prospective. I’ve used up 1/3 of a bag in the process of dialing this coffee to yield a perfect shot of espresso. I bought myself breville barista espress, bare in mind I’m new to this so it took me 3 days and hours of watching youtube videos in the process of getting a perfect shot from this coffee. Be patient and you will eventually get it! Below I’m going to outline the basics of getting a drinkable shot from which you can fine tune and extrapolate to a shot that suits your pallet. First and foremost I’ve got to mention that I don’t drink starbucks, period. I think it is worth mentioning because it will give you idea about my palette. All starbucks taste to me like burnt, tasteless goo. If I do buy espresso, then it is usually from mom and pop shop. I’ve tried to pull a decent double shot from this, but no matter what I did it was either bitter or sour. In terms of yield (1:2) , and time (25+sec) it was supposed to taste more or less ok, but it did not. This is was the result of 2 days trial and error. I was on a verge of packing my espresso machine and returning it! On day three I had an epiphany! I’ve got to increase my output ratio. I wanted to stay in 20-30 sec range. And from my previous trials that would mean my double would have to extend beyond 30 sec mark. I decided to scale back to a single shot. Increase ratio to 1:2.5 within 25-30 time frame. The result was completely different, I finally got a decently tasting shot. Here’s my recipe: - 10g of coffee as measured in portafilter. - 5/3 i set my grinder to 5 on the inside (bore) and 3 as dialed on the outside wheel - firm tamp - run a single shot through empty portafilter to warm it up clean and load with 10g of grounded coffee - set your machine into manual mode (press program button on your BBE) - get your scale / shotglass set up under portafilter, get your timer ready - hit double shot button wait until first drops and start the timer. - observe scales. You’ve got to wait until scale reads 21-22g and then hit double shot button and stop the timer simultaneously. You should get about 2-4g as an afterflow. Your timer should read about 25sec +/- 2 sec. from here you can adjust to make a delicious shot that suits your taste. I’m going to eventually tune machine to get a double shot, but personally, i’m just fine with singles.

Not suitable for cheap espresso machines
To be honest this coffee tastes better on a professional espresso machine I'd tasted it before in one of those, if you have the semi professional espresso machine like breville etc this coffee tastes very bad, also to add that by the aroma of the beans,I can tell if the coffee batch is old or not this batch was old tasting bitter almost to a burnt taste, I recommend to buy this coffee only if you have a commercial grade espresso machine 😀

The Best Decaf Whole Bean Coffee I've Found
Decaf whole bean coffee can be very hit or miss, and I've tried quite a few that just don't compare well to regular coffee. This is the best decaf whole bean option I've found so far. It's not perfect, and if you're a serious coffee enthusiast you'll probably still notice some differences compared to a quality caffeinated bean. However, it's much closer than most decaf coffees I've tried. The flavor is balanced, the aroma is pleasant, and it produces a satisfying cup without feeling like a major compromise. If you're looking for a decaf coffee that comes as close as possible to the experience of regular whole bean coffee, this is definitely worth trying. It's become my go-to decaf option.

QUALITY BEANS WITH A SMOOTH WELL BALANCED TASTE
As I opened these Lavazza coffee beans the beautiful rich aroma reminded me of the smell and freshness of the full caffeine Lavazza beans. So I am stood there with my nose in the bag taking in this amazing aroma lol. I find that these beans are smaller in size than the full caffeine beans but in my opinion this does not detract from the quality and the smooth well balanced taste in which I did not detect any bitterness at all. These beans have a subtle nuttiness and a delicate fruitiness to them. They are bold without being too strong. A perfect fit for me. Honestly these beans are so good it’s hard to believe they are not full caffeine beans. I must admit I have tried a few different brands of coffee beans but these are now my absolute favourite for my bean to cup coffee machine. As far as the price is concerned I feel they offer value for money because of their quality even though the price is more expensive they are: 1. Italian coffee beans and: 2. They are decaffeinated using the water process whereas the cheaper brands use solvents in the decaffeinating process. In my opinion I give these beans a whopping 9/10 for the best decaffeinated coffee beans I have tried to date.
