Centering Black Narrative: Ahl al-Bayt, Blackness & Africa

This book was used for historical references. The authors gave new information about people who most don't know their descriptions because of the books being are in Arabic.Also the authors cite the books they referenced so you can go back and fact check.I was unaware that so many characters whom I've come cross their name or read a story about where described as "asmar" brown "aswad" black or "shadeed al udma" which apparently means excessively black.Many of these figures were "Ahl al Bayt" and either related to or very close to Prophet and his family.Definitely and eye opening book. I'm not sure why more of this information isn't shared.

Excellent work! I highly recommend this book to all Muslims. It will increase you in love of the blessed household of our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him and his pure family), and assist in honoring the legacy of Black Muslims past and present.

This book in conjunction to its prequel is a must-read for anyone, Muslim and non-muslim looking for an education that will help to de-colonize the lense of mistruth and white supremacy that has freely floated in almost every avenue of peoples lives including ironically, the modern Muslim community of today. This book is not an attempt to say that every companion or member of the Prophet's family was of African descent or "Black" by today's standards of the term, but to raise awareness that many were! I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I am so happy to finally see this come out. I loved the stories and narratives in here. I will re-tell these to my children so that they can relate to the Africaness of the family members of the Prophet of Islam (AS). A must read for every Muslim of African descent.
