Be a “green thumb” to maintain your plants with this
This has helped maintain my plants and even some outdoor ones I overwatered! Handy item to have around and if you like plants and not sure how much to water them, you need this. Worked great and consistent.

Easy to use and accurate
Love this moisture meter! Easy to use and very accurate. I’ve been using one for years! Works great and helps me to keep my plants alive by not overwatering them. I recently bought this one for my daughter, and I gave my mother one last year. My mother loves it also!

Moisture meter
It works from what I can tell but it is extremely light weight and I’m concerned with long term durability. Fortunately it was inexpensive so if I get a 6 months to a year out of it I’ll be happy.

My flowers are grateful now
Simple to use and affordable. I leave one in the flower pots at the house entrance to remind me to water them. They don't need daily watering. I can walk by and see at a glance how the water level is. Helpful to not overwater and the plants never seem wilted now.

Great Moisture Meter!
I had a different plant moisture meter which was years old and took a long time to register, so I finally tried this new one. It is great! It helped me realize that my older moisture meter was broken, which had caused me to overwater my plants, as it kept showing that my plants were too dry. This one is instant read, and actually showed some of my plants as being very wet, so I've backed way off on watering and my plants are way happier.

Old style that almost works.
The only one out there that I've seen for years that actually uses copper for the whole conductor of the unit. It's very sensitive to the dampness of the soil because of this. Unfortunately it is so sensitive that any soil that is designed to stay damp will read wet or at ten when it's actually around a three or four. So beware when you read it. They need to recalibrate the unit for regular soil and spagnum. This would be a great unit if it was recalibrated. This would work for succulents or something like that. It should be listed as being good for soils for specific plants or soil types. I've had to lower my rating only because of this. P.S. for everyone that is putting this into water. They will read totally dry. These are not to be left in wet soil or water for any length of time as they will become inoperable. Basically ruining them.

USE IT CORRECTLY!
Do NOT under any circumstances submerge the probe in water, especially to test if it "works" as so MANY reviewers have done. It'll just stop working. I have over 100 plants. I use my moisture meter consistently with pretty good success and it's never failed me. Moisture meters are designed to work in soil ONLY and will not provide a reading in water. Leave it in the soil between 30-60 seconds, not longer and NEVER more than 5 minutes as this can corrode the probe, which is sensitive. One thing to keep in mind is the reading will depend on the depth and location of the probe in the soil. Soil might be very moist towards the bottom and dry in the first couple inches. Dry on one side and wet on the other. It all depends on how evenly you water your plants. A lot of the complaints are by people who are not aware of these factors. Different plants have different root systems. Some naturally have shallow roots, while others head straight to the bottom of the pot. So how deep you place the probe is very important. Under normal conditions—and this is likely the problem many are having—mineral salts, coming from fertiliser and tap water tend to build up in potting soil over time. So, unless you re-pot annually, changing the old soil for fresh soil, readings will gradually become less and less accurate. If the soil is heavily contaminated with mineral salts, the meter will always read moist or wet, even when the soil is obviously dry. Also, over time, often in as little as a year, mineral salts slowly penetrate the probe itself, or it may begin to rust and, again, both situations can lead to inaccurate results. Always dry off the probe immediately after use! Moisture meters actually read electrical conductance, not the amount of water present. Water is a good conductor, but air (which is abundant in dry soil) is not. That’s the basics of how a meter works. Remember how air is a poor conductor? Freshly potted plants have fluffy airy soil compared to old pots with compacted soil. That’s going to skew your readings. It's also important to know that because moisture meters work by measuring electrical currents within the soil, soil that has a high salt content will result in inaccurate readings. The numbers given are usually just a scale, not an actual measurement. So you should be checking the output against a specific plant’s water needs, because not all plants need the same amount of moisture. Sometimes a 7 means water, sometimes a 7 means wait. If the needle in the display window is bouncing around and does not settle, the probe could be touching a small rock or piece of metal in the soil. Remove the probe and try again in a different location.

Igrometro semplice ed efficace
Ottimo prodotto. Alcune piante devo permanere in zona "Wet" mentre altre preferiscono plvivere in terreni molto secchi. Ad ogni modo seguire l'irrigazione delle piante con questo strumento facilita enormente la scelta dei cicli di irrigazione, soprattutto se si hanno tante piante di tipologia differente, e quindi con esigenze idriche diverse.
