I wish I had owned this type of device years ago! In this era of not totally trusting the integrity of transistors purchased cheaply overseas, this device provides the means of getting most of the details you'd really want to know: NPN or PNP? Silicon? order BEC or BCE? C-E protection diode? hFE? I just used it to determine that all 12 of the 12 previous inexpensive eBay-purchased transistors were not what the silk-screened stencil ID on the devices claimed. That info likely saved me both time and money in effecting repair of some expensive electronic units.I think the price is perhaps a bit more than it should be, BUT I still rated "value for money" at 5 stars because of how much it will benefit my operation.I would recommend this product for anyone who does a fair amount of repair work and also to experimenters/hobbyists who buy transistors from various sources and can't always be certain of the devices' integrity.

This makes screening semiconductors so easy. It is a great device for the diy and would save pros much time in selecting and evaluating devices.

This is a great tool if your working with Germanium Transistors. You can check the gain and leakage super easy. Works with Silicone Transistors also. Well worth the money if your on the fence about this item as i was at first, I say buy it!

I debated purchasing one of these due to the cost but finally did and it has been worth it so far. Very easy to use and great for finding the transistor pinout and hFE for my DIY guitar pedals.

I ordered this tester in order to repair a Dell 17" monitor that had problems displaying a screen as the power button simply blinked continuously when you tried to power the monitor on. This tester allowed me to test the most likely semiconductors that failed in the monitor and allowed me to repair it with nearly no fuss as it was able to accurately measure the gain (hfe) of the C5707 transistors that needed to be replaced. If you are into repairing anything electronic, I would highly recommend that you purchase this item as it is an essential tool for your electronic troubleshooting toolbox. Excellent product!
