Worth it if you're an Avatar fan
If you are a fan of Avatar The Last Airbender, collecting the books from the tale of the main characters from Book 2 will definitely be enjoyable to read. These books basically tell the story of the character, in this case Katara's, from that character's own perspective. Something I really like about these books is that you can read what they are thinking whether if it's their expression after what they hear in a dialogue or when find themselves trying make a chioce. I really like reading what these characters are thinking because that is something you can't see when watching the show. If you are a big fan of Avatar like me, you can't go wrong with collecting these books. They're really worth it.

the tale of katara
the story told from katara's view as they travel through the earth kingdom searching for Aang an earthbending masterFrom Avatar: The Last Airbender, I'm Katara. I'm traveling through the Earth Kingdom with my brother, Sokka, and Aang, the Avatar. After Aang and I studied Waterbending at the North Pole, we set off to find him an Earthbending teacher. The journey has been kind of rough on all of us. I'm having trouble getting along with Aang's new Earthbending teacher, Toph; Aang's struggling with his Earthbending lessons; and we're being chased not only by Prince Zuko, but his sister, Princess Azula, too! But I know we'll make it through this, as long as we all stick together

Seriously, no matter how old you are you should watch this series. It's the best American 'anime' I've ever watched!

Skip it
I found myself skimming the entire book and just reading the quotes from ATLA. Avatar may be the greatest children's show of all time, but that doesn't make the narrative of this book any less horrendous. Katara's maturity drops about six years from show to novella- skip the book, watch the show, and read between the lines to know what she's thinking.

Great series!
This is a great series and has my 7 year old unable to put them down. Great artwork and look to the books. It challenges my 7 year old to read more difficult material, but still there's a picture now and then to enjoy!

The tale of Kitara
If you like the Avatar, you will like this. We have bought a number of these books for our 7 year old son and not been disappointed. The stories are well written and just as witty as the TV series, without seeming redundant. The tale is told from Kitara's point of view, which is insightful. In addition, there is a small pullout comic in the back.
