Robert PiguetBois Noir Eau de Parfum Spray for Men, 3.4 Fl Oz

My husband is an old school man and I thought he’d enjoy this fragrance. He tested it without knowing anything about it, including the basic ingredients, and liked it. He obviously has a nose for ingredients and claimed it has a “woodsy smell.” Indeed, it has combined balsam, guaiac, rose, cedar wood, and amber fragrance. The dip tube probably goes to the bottom of the bottle as the spray worked quickly and easily.The presentation is simple, yet elegant. The black glass bottle will keep the contents from degrading as no light can get to the fragrance. I definitely like the masculine smell of the Bois Noir. It’s not overwhelming nor is it cloying. A very light spritz will do with this one. It is very pricey at $185, but this 3.4-ounce bottle will last a long time.

Now, if you are not accustom to complex scents for men, this may require a slight adjustment. I think that many in the US have a really narrow definition of what fragrances are ... and this scent will shatter all of those notions. It is layered, evolves/changes over time (not wanes but actually changes), and it needs to be applied with a light touch.At first, this may seem "a bit much." (That's why you need to go light). But then, give this a moment to dry-down. You will begin to notice the layers of scent. (The artistry involved in this scent is just amazing.) You do not need to reapply this at midday (trust me, it is still there).My better half is very fond of this fragrance (as am I). It is sophisticated, chic, and mysterious. Really beautiful!

I like another one of Robert Piguet's perfumes- Fracas, so I was very excited to receive this and another one of his perfumes in exchange for my honest reviews. This perfume for men is very strong, I would say overpowering. I suppose it's a matter of taste and taste is subjective so someone else might like this scent. But to me, it smells very generic and overpowering masculine. It claims to be unisex bit I don't see how that can be.

Robert Piguet is a respected brand in this space, and having the right scent can be a great confidence booster, so I was curious to check this one out because it sounded like an appealing blend. This one comes packaged in a relatively unassuming black box, and the bottle is also solid black and very simple. The bottom line on this one is that the scent is not for me. It smells kinda woodsy but kinda like peat or something too. Not sure. It seems like a sophisticated combination just doesn't really match what I like or want to go for, and my wife doesn't care for it either.

I received the pictured perfume.The description says it is a masculine perfume but I found it quite feminine.It does not smell cheap at all. I wouldn't say it is young, but it also doesn't read "old lady".The smell is extremely strong and really lingers. I would say it is fresh and rich in both flowery and earthy fragrances.The bottle is understated, high quality, can work as a gift.I guess it is not right for me but it does seem legit, well made and thoughtfully designed and crafted.
