We have only lived in this place a year (was built in 1960 so everything was original when we moved here in 2014) or so and I saw this product and thought what the heck, start with toilets and water in kitchen. It is basically just a really strong pair of refrigerator magnets. The good thing is it goes on very quickly, is packaged very well, and I would imagine does no harm to my water system.
