Voice Recorder for Lectures (8GB Mini)

I have used several of these small recorders over the years for college lectures and then in business, none had everything I wanted until this one. Looks just like a usb drive. Very easy to use, on/off slide switch on end. Also easy to enable time stamp on recordings, one time set up - one click. Great sensitivity and sound quality. 13 hour battery life., about 36 hours of recording time (8Gigs). 2.5 hours to charge from 25%. Discreet colored lights available to show battery life left and also storage left. Came in nice small foam lined metal box, classy all the way around. I have also ordered from this company before and their customer service is second to none.

It’s been totally worth it to buy this, and perfect value for money. It works great, you do need windows to set up the date which is inconvenient for Ubuntu users but other than that I am super happy. I guess it’s limited if you want super advanced technology, but this just does exactly what I expected it to. Clear audio and super easy to use and transfer audios.

This recorder is small but the mic is very sensitive, great for picking up talking but it will have a small amount of distortion with very loud sounds. I was impressed with the quality and ease of use

I've used this tiny device maybe a dozen times. It was GREAT until it didn't record 3 of my last classes and I didn't know it until getting back home to my computer. Super disappointing, it's fully charged. Don't know why it's suddenly NOT recording. It lasted literally a couple months of use. What a bummer

For the two units I've tried I would not say the "crystal clear recordings" and "Premium Sound Quality" listed in the item description are to be expected - certainly not for this form factor. I wasn't able to achieve a recording that wasn't at least moderately muffled. Recordings are stored as 16000 Hz WAV files with no options available to change it. Would be neat to be able to change these settings with a software utility. Also, it would be good for them to not just include the year, month, day and recording number but also the hour, minute and second in the recording file name. It is an engineering challenge to pack a good microphone into such a small space without getting at least some interference in the form of noise - in that respect this recorder does an OK job. It does not utilize a noise gate and does not support voice-activated recordings. The unit is very simple to operate with the built-in On/Off switch and status button for battery and remaining storage indicators. No LED lights are on during the recording so it looks like a plain old USB stick. This 8GB USB stick with a microphone should be good enough for moderate to loud audio sources, preferably as close to the unit as possible (as with all microphones). Just don't expect to gain this up in your audio editor and get crystal clear audio without any interfering noise. The team at RoMech were very responsive via email when I wrote to them - props to them for that.

Lovely sound quality, easily usable and convenient; this USB really surprised me. I wasn't expecting such a nice piece of equipment for the price, but alas my expectations were surpassed. Customer Service is prompt and responsive, which helped to resolve any issues. That' s what really caused the great rating. I'd really recommend to anyone looking for this type of product.

Unfortunately, unless you are right on top of what you want to record you aren't going to hear it. There is a lot of background noise and just a few ft. away everything becomes inaudible. The size is very nice and the flash drive charge and download feature is nice, but that's really all.

This is a good little recorder and is worth the money. Having said that, I have only had this for about a month so, I cannot speak to the durability yet. The mic is very good and picks up sounds at some distance. So far so good.
