If you want to loosen the cap bolt with the fork still in place and clamped with the lower triple tree bracket and not remove the handle bars, this socket works. It is short enough to clear the handlebars and the socket is deep enough to go over the preload adjusting bolt with it screwed down to about 2 lines showing. You will also need a 2" extension to put the ratchet above the handlebars and it needs to be a wobble extension so it will clear the handle bars. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ like 1/8". The key difference that I could spot in photos is that the "oil filter" wrenches seem to have a bit of a concave shape to the face of the socket, to make it easier to get onto a nut that's hard to get to. But at the top of bike forks (Fox, anyways) the nut you're trying to grab is very thin, like 1/8". So it's possible the concave style wouldn't grab the nut sufficiently, but like I said, I didn't try it. ### ⭐ Will scratch your fork! *by M***K on Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2018* Even though this socket is specifically for fork top caps, the walls are too thick, so the crown of my fork was scratched.
