Perfect for certain use cases
There are a lot of negative reviews on this that exist because they don't get what the actual use case for this item is. It is the simplest, easiest, most passive way to hatch brine shrimp in small numbers. This product is made for the aquarist who has just a betta or two, or a small number of nano fish, or a very small number of fry, and it's perfect in those instances. You get a reliable but small supply of baby brine daily for just 2-3 minutes worth of work, without needing air pumps, sieves, a heater and a light. Just add water, a packet of salt and eggs, and sit it on a countertop where there's some ambient light and a comfortable temperature, and you'll get baby brine shrimp. That simple. Are the hatch rates good compared to what you could get with virtually any other hatching method? Of course not. But if you don't need much quantity of brine shrimp and you want to hatch them the absolute simplest and easiest way, that's what this is.

Waste of time and money
The product is simple, and there's nothing wrong with the materials, only the design. However, there are several issues. 1. Not many baby brine shrimp (BBS) swim through the hole into the freshwater canister, regardless of light or mix - even when there is lots of BBS in the water below. 2. The salt/egg packets are ridiculously expensive compared to buying your own eggs and salt. 3. Directions suggest filling container with water before adding the mix. I suggest you stir the mix in a separate container not almost full of water so you can properly dissolve the salt. Even better, dissolve your own salt into water in a separate container first, then add your own eggs. Even if you do this, you'll just get a lot of BBS below, and little in the canister. Other BBS hatcheries are much better (I have a circular version from brine shrimp direct and its much better) and don't require the annoyance of filling a small canister repeatedly with water, trying to keep it from dripping, and only getting a small harvest of BBS for your trouble. They also don't use the word "educational" while charging 5X+ the price per batch of BBS - assuming you buy their mix instead of eggs and salt separately.

Works but has flaws
Seems to work but allot smaller than expected way shorter hatch rate than expected as well did everything according to instructions and only had maybe 50 hatch so far roughly 30 hours after set up but my puffers are enjoying the fresh shrimp as a food source

Works like a charm and so easy to use!
The media could not be loaded. I’d been trying with my own set up (small “tank”, aeration, heater, light, etc) and a different brand of eggs and not having any luck. I spotted this kit and laughed it off, thinking that based on everything I’ve been reading about hatching brine shrimp there’s no way this could possibly work. Out of desperation I ordered it anyway. I figured it was cheap enough so not much lost of it didn’t. Well, it works! So simple, so easy to set up, so easy to use! Less than 24 hours after setting it up, at 75 degrees (according to thermometer sticker included in the kit), and I have baby shrimp. My fish are fed and happy! I’ve purchased more eggs (from this brand) and will continue to use this kit until it falls apart…then I’ll buy another! I’m so happy with it!!! If you’re just starting out, and don’t have a massive amount of fish to feed, buy it!! It’s great!!

Good value but can be a little tricky
I was very excited to try this product out, unfortunitlly my first batch of brine shrimp did not work so well and I had noticed that there was a very small detail i had missed in the instructions. Once i did the instuctions to completion i did have success and my fish LOVE eating live brine shrimp. The main downside to this product is it is only desighned to HATCH the brine shrimp, you gotta use them within 2 or 3 days of seeing them. For me these are a bit to small and i now raise them in a separate bowl to adult size before feeding. Also if compared to other methods of feeding your fish this can be somewhat more costly as you have to reorder brine shrimp eggs. All and all, its a good set up and really not too expensive, but a little. And you can not see success if you don't follow the institutions very very carefully.

Not Wildly Productive
It didn’t work nearly as well as expected or as it should. Each packet produced minimal shrimp, but mainly the eggs just sat and nothing hatched. Using different eggs with sea salt and baking soda yielded a little better return, but the most successful was a DIY hatchery with my own egg mix.

Works perfect if you think it through
I bought this to hatch baby brine shrimp for my 1 day old axolotl hatchlings. I filled the top with some rock salt and water because I want the shrimp alive for more than 30 minutes. I use 2 nets I purchased separately to get the live shrimp away from the eggs. I did put an old school 60 watt lamp above it. I got them to hatch in 14 hours! Super easy to dump, strain and replace any unhatched eggs back into the water cup. It does allow the eggs to float up but again, 2 separate sifting nets do the job. I am having better luck than my friend with the fancy set up it seems. Would I want this system for years? Probably not but it'll get me through the 3-4 weeks of baby brine shrimp my axolittles need.
