Not Lebron, but getting there.
Listen, I’m not saying I’m the next LeBron, but when I’m out in the driveway with this Spalding, I can almost hear the crowd going wild (or maybe that’s just my neighbor’s leaf blower). I’ve gone through plenty of cheap basketballs that end up feeling like a lumpy potato after a week, but this one is the real deal. It’s got that classic "I mean business" grip that makes you feel like you actually have ball control, even if your "crossover" is mostly just you tripping over your own feet. The durability is honestly impressive. I’ve bounced this thing on cracked pavement, accidentally kicked it into a rose bush, and even left it out in the rain once (sorry, buddy), and it still looks and bounces like a champ. It doesn't lose air overnight either—there’s nothing worse than getting hyped for a game only to realize your ball has the personality of a flat pancake. It’s got that perfect "thwack" sound when it hits the backboard and a satisfying swish (when I actually hit the rim, which is... occasionally). Whether you're playing a serious pickup game or just practicing your "winning shot" in slow motion while the sun goes down, this is the ball you want. It’s reliable, it’s tough, and it never judges me for air-balling three times in a row. 10/10 would bounce again!

Great for age 8-12 yrs old
I got this for my 10 yr old grandson who loves basketball. Even though he's already using a larger ball, this one is great for learning new ball-handling techniques because of the relative size of the ball to hand size. The ball itself is a very high quality basketball. It has a very durable exterior with lots of grip for best control. He's also one who leaves his ball outside in the weather, which makes them not last as long. So far he's had this one well over 6 months and it has lasted in better shape than many he's had. As an adult, I've also found that this one isn't too small for me either, and it's pretty fun to shoot.

Surprising good ball for one so cheap ($15 & free prime ship). Needed a bit of extra air, tho now may be too bouncy. Has a good feel, with pebbled surface and fairly deep ridges. Bounces well, seems balanced as it spins when shooting. I almost got one twice as expensive thinking it must be better, but happy with this purchase -- doubt the pricier one is much or any better. Note: the ball arrived alone in a box -- nothing else. So may need a needle for inflation.

Falls flat 2 out of 2 times
I got this ball for my 10 year old. He had it in the house for 5 days before i got the hoop set up. It was fine then but the day after he finally took it outside it got totally flat. It did not even last a week. So good thing amazon has a great return policy so we got another replacement. The second one came flat in the box. I tested that one in water just to see if it was just not pumped up or if it was full of holes. It had 2 holes. tested it for 30 min after pumping it up to see how long it would last. flat again in 30 min and guess what? It had more then 2 holes then. I like amazon but this is a junk product or at least it is where ever they are getting them from. At sports stores they have them half boxed cardboard and they are firm an ready to go. I would think it would be easy to see if they are flat in store but here it seems like a crap shoot. Some things just need to be seen in person before buying and this might be one of them. PS. I also got another brand basketball same time as this one and it was exactly the same experience within a week it was flat. UPDATE - 2/23/2015 Been over a year now and felt I should update this review. I got the same product later at a sports store. There were flats there as well so I had to test out a few. Great ball no issues after more than a year. Changing this from 1 to 4 stars because the product itself is not bad if you can find one that is not defective. Hard to know if product like this is defective until you handle it yourself.

2 years for an outdoor ball that is used almost everyday is a great value for a $14 ball
I came back to buy this ball again, and Amazon tells me that I last purchased this ball March 2013, and it's June 2015 now, so this ball lasted my daughter over 2 years of constant playing. The ball now has less grip and is slightly out of round, but it still holds air well and can still be used for a while longer as a 2nd ball for 2 ball drills. 2 years for an outdoor ball that is used almost everyday is a great value for a $14 ball. It was used primarily on cement, so I would expect asphalt would wear a little faster but still an excellent ball. This review is for the 28.5 ball.

Ball defies laws of gravity and motion, regularly fails to go through orange hoop
I suspect something may be wrong with the Spalding intermediate size basketball because nearly every time I throw the ball with varying degrees of arc, it makes a loud, dischordant, reverberating sound against the rim and fails to adequately follow a path through the cylindrical oriface as I've seen the tall fellows on tv do. This is the second Spalding branded ball I've tried with these same poor results. My percentage of made shots to missed shots is vastly disproportionate in favor of the latter. One neighbor boy suggested my problem may be the result of my throwing "bricks" as he called them. I assured him I was, indeed, throwing a basketball and not masonic construction materials. The ball appears to be sufficiently radially symmetric with equal internal distribution of air and no external weather related inclimations or phenomena were noticeable nor reported in local media. However, when I attempt the bounce the ball as I move about the driveway, the ball doesn't always return to my hand and I've seen on tv. It often bounces off of my feet and rolls off to the neighbor's yard. Once, the ball returned very quickly into my groin area, seemingly defying Newtonion laws of motion as the amount of energy radiated into this sensitive area seemed to be exponentially higher than the amount of force propelled downward. I was at once fascinated with the idea that perhaps the angle of the driveway combined with the spin of the ball may have invoked the law of conservation of angular momentum. My fascination quickly subsided in indirect proportion to the amount of pain in my lower abdomen while I gingerly limped to my office to ponder where the physics was breaking down. I think the engineers at Spalding should re-examine the spherical geometry with consideration to Hertz's impact laws and the coefficient of restitution equation. Perhaps subsequent product offerings will deliver a more comparable performance to that of the lanky fellows on tv. I'll try a different brand to see if my results vary.

Street Ballin’
Like a great many ballers, my son is specific about his routine and doesn’t like switching equipment once he’s in a groove. He’s now on his fourth NBA Street Basketball from Spalding. These are great and are really durable on the pavement. They last a long time and are super comfortable to shoot. He has great control and hits lots of 3s with this ball and has zero interest in considering anything else.

On the courts again!
I ordered a basketball because it had been a while since I was last on the court. I shopped for one locally, but the price was more than I wanted to spend for such an item. When my ball was delivered, I was shocked to see that it was delivered already inflated perfectly and ready to go. I went right the courts and shot around. It's a basketball, it came inflated, it's great. Nothing more to really add to this as there was nothing that makes it 'special' but an overall great buy!
