Excellent book brings period from Napoleon to Louis Phillips to vivid life. Son of a peasant hero Julien Sorel battles up the social order by intelligence, native cunning and courage brought down by his own romantic nature.

Il libro è arrivato in buone condizioni. Esso è un romanzo psicologico che racconta la storia di Julien Sorel, un giovane di basso rango che cerca di effettuare una scalata sociale guidato dalla sua ambizione e intelligenza. Questo romanzo rappresenta anche una satira dell'ordine sociale nel periodo della restaurazione Borbonica, dopo la Rivoluzione Francese e l'impero Napoleonico. In certi tratti può essere un po' noioso, ma come lettura è sicuramente appassionante ed eterna! Consigliatissimo!

It's not so much the plot, though the end is more benignly romantic than I could have imagined. The way in which Stendhal captures the elusive gravity of his characters' innermost emotional subtleties is achingly exquisite. It is what he is famous for. This book is brilliant.

Love this book, love the service, love the delivery. Would definitely recommend

A good read. Like a few classics it can get a bit bogged down at times but it keeps you enthralled right to the end.
