Even though it isn't the best Pokemon game, that doesn't mean at all that it's a bad game.
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are amazing games, like all main-series Pokemon games. In fact, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are the two games I spent the most time playing on my Nintendo 3DS; over 280 hours total! That just shows how much of a great game this is. STORY: As you start your journey, you get a Pokemon from this game's professor; Professor Birch gives you a Pokemon, and you go on your way. Eventually, you encounter Team Magma/Team Aqua and have to stop them from destroying the Hoenn Region. At the same time, you collect all 8 gym badges and eventually become the Hoenn Pokemon League Champion. Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have almost the same exact story as the games they were remade form; Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire...until you get to the Delta Episode. The story is certainly more lighthearted than Pokemon Black and White or Black 2 and White 2, but it is a remake, and one that does not have such a dark story. GAMEPLAY: The most important part of all Pokemon games is the gameplay. That's a no-brainer. However, most, if not all Pokemon games have very consistent battle systems, with only new moves/types or certain moves being slightly altered. It's a good thing that it remains the same, actually, so that you don't have to get used to an all-new battle system. CONTENT: This game, unfortunately, doesn't have the largest amount of content. Once you beat the main game, you are treated to the Delta Episode, basically the part of Pokemon Emerald that wasn't the exact same as Ruby and Sapphire, which includes battling and capturing both Rayquaza and Deoxys! But after you do that, you catch a few more legendaries, and that's it. If you're up to it, you could complete the Pokedex, which takes a lot of time and patience due to there being more than 700 Pokemon to acquire for the Pokedex. REPLAYABILITY: This game has A TON of replayability. You have almost the whole arsenal of the whole entire region of Hoenn to create the team of your choice. But that's not all, after you beat the game, you can catch some of the Pokemon from other regions, without having to transfer them from the previous generation games, which is pretty cool, as only a few other Pokemon games did this. CONCLUSION: Overall, this game gets a 4.5 stars out of 5. This game is great fun, like any other main-series Pokemon gamer. You really can't go wrong with any game in the series, and this wouldn't be a bad choice!

Less of a review, more of a story.
I found my original copy of Pokemon Ruby in a Publix parking lot on Christmas day. It was quite some time ago. I saw the little cartridge on the ground behind the tire of my mom's huge Ford E-150 transport van/ cavern on wheels. It had been run over, the translucent red plastic of the game had micro fractures in it, and I was surprised that the 7,000 pounds of van hadn't turned it to dust. Having just gotten my first DS (the silver one that was practically indestructible) I picked it up and slotted it in the GBA game slot on the bottom. I hit the power button on the DS, and to my astonishment, the game was recognized. Turns out it didn't only work, but the previous owner's save was still intact. They had used a game shark or something on that game, because I don't remember being able to catch Mew 30 times in Ruby. Anyway, I played around with their save for awhile, not wanting to erase all of their progress, but eventually I figured they would never see it again, might as well enjoy it myself. I made a new save, and just fell in love with it. I was accustomed to the graphics and mechanics of Pokemon Red, so playing Ruby was an amazing experience. What were these trees, with berries on them? I can run now?! Just amazing. I was inseparable from that game. It's not quite the same, this new Ruby, but that's not a bad thing. The graphics are again better, and there are new mechanics (Mega-evolution is pretty neat) but when I powered it up, I felt an entire wave of memories wash over me. I remembered my room, with a new console in it no doubt, but still the same old room. And the same old town, and that distinctive white hair. The controls are great, and being able to experience the story once again has made this purchase 100% worth it. Keep up the good work Nintendo.

You Can't Get Ludicolo In This One
I bought Omega Ruby because I wanted to play the Hoenn remakes and my sister already claimed Alpha Sapphire. I was so excited to explore the region, and more importantly, to add a Ludicolo to my team. I saw Detective Pikachu when it came out, and it elevated Ludicolo from being one of those pokemon I constantly forget exists to one of my favorites. I decided I was going to raise a Ludicolo for my team and name him Gritty. Lo and behold, after I already bought the game I go to check Bulbapedia to see where I can catch a Lotad, only to find that Ludicolo is exclusive to Alpha Sapphire and that I'll have to settle for Seedot instead. (Which I did catch and named "NEEPLES", in anticipation for his evolution into Nuzleaf.) The game itself is fine. More than fine, in fact; I've been finding time in between my college classes to play this thing obsessively for over a week straight. The only thing in my life that matters right now is growing absurd amounts of virtual berries - whenever my avatar reaches into their bag, they come out with a handful of jam. (Note: this is comedic hyperbole and not an actual game feature, you will not be able to witness actual in-game jamhands.) The environments and settings are incredible, and as a Diamond and Pearl kid I'm happy to be able to have my very own secret base again. It's a fun little game and is extremely enjoyable, but just know before buying that if you want Ludicolo you should get Alpha Sapphire instead. 7.8/10, no Ludicolo.

Greatest Pokemon remakes ever?
Pokemon Omega Ruby, along with Alpha Sapphire, are the perfect examples of how to modernize a classic game without killing most of what made it so good. Better gameflow, pacing, and features help make these special remakes worth playing for Pokemon fans! Here is a summary of the pros (+) and cons (-): + Beautiful and colorful graphics, even for the relatively weak hardware of the 2DS/3DS. Texture quality on NPCs is a bit pixelated, but it looks surprisingly good all around. A very pleasant color palette, with some lovely shading and lighting. Pokemon are full of life, personality, and have unique animations. Yes, even older generation Pokemon have their own beautiful 3D models and unique animations! + Hours upon hours of Pokecontent! You can travel around and collect berries, then feed Pokeblocks to your Pokemon so they can be ready for contests. Or, you can go classic trainer mode and train up your Pokemon by having rematches with NPC trainers or battle wild Pokemon. Heck, you can have fun with minigames and shower your Pokemon with love in Pokemon-amie, a wonderful feature where you can truly experience the unique personalities of your Pokemon. If you are feeling like stompin' some suckers, you can go online and challenge other trainers to Pokemon battles. But, you can simply go full on classic mode and ignore all of that to explore the world, collecting those Gym Badges to be the best trainer you can be! Gotta catch 'em all! + Training Pokemon is easier than ever! You can activate an item that causes all party Pokemon to gain the same amount of experience points, no matter which Pokemon is at the front of your party. If you're like me and prefer classic training methods, you can simply turn this item off. But, please be aware that the game will be harder once you do that, and it will be more difficult to keep your Pokemon nicely trained. - These games aren't as challenging as the classic games. I played Pokemon Emerald (which is classic Ruby and Sapphire combined), and I swear to god that the Gym Leaders had way more Pokemon at their disposal rather than 2, 3, or 4! Some trainer battles ARE pretty challenging, and some Gym Leaders will give you trouble, but I found this game to be a bit on the easy side. Please note, I said "a bit"! - Framerate issues will sometimes happen in battle. This is definitely a sign of the relatively weak hardware. It's still impressive what Nintendo, and the Pokemon Company, are able to squeeze out of this particular handheld console. - It's pretty easy to get lost if you're zoning out and not paying attention to the clues the game gives you. Otherwise, the game does a solid job leading you on the correct path. - Too many abilities feel outright useless and not needed, especially if you care about hitting enemies at their weakpoints. This is highly debatable, especially for pro Pokemon players who use status altering abilities more. - A weird connection glitch occurs if you are connected to the Internet in the game, and then decide to take a break by either putting your 2DS/3DS to sleep, or pressing the home button. When you get back into the game, you will experience a random disconnection from the Internet.

Mine came damaged, but not Seller’s fault
Can’t complain about price, came on time, and it does work, but the box was squished and the cartridge was damaged in a way that doesn’t hinder gameplay but makes it sketchy to get out of the console. Not knocking any stars cause it’s most likely a Ups/Amazon thing (and I can still play it).

Best Pokemon game yet.
Disclaimer: I may be a bit bias since the original Pokemon Ruby was my first ever game. BEST GAME in the Pokemon franchise yet. Omgea Ruby is a remake of Pokemon Ruby on the GBA and the nostalgia is so real in this game. There are tons of references in this game for people who have played the original, but not too much that new comers would be turned off. Graphics wise this game uses the Pokemon X and Y game engine so it should be comparable to those games. So yes the frame rate drop from turning on the 3d is still there and when there is a high number of Pokemon in battle. However Game Freak seems to have smoothed out some the graphics as the water looks amazing, colors more vivid, and for some reason the battles look better in my opinion. Music is phenomenal. Game Freak has out done themselves. The music from the original games have been remixed with some new one put in as well. I'll try not to spoil anything, but one of your rivals battle song is amazing to say the least. I can't stop re listening to it online. Post game is not the best, but there is still a decent amount things to explore(Don't expect as much as Black 2 and White 2). I'll try not to spoil, but the delta episodes are short but great. Those hoping for the Battle Frontier will be disappointed. But there is something similar to XY to do. Overall best Pokemon game yet. If you never played Pokemon great place to start and if you're a returning trainer same formula as always with some nostalgia.

Good game, some new stuff, but a lot of same ol same ol
You know, I have a love/hate relationship with version exclusives. On one hand, it gives people a reason to go one way or the other. On the other hand, most people pick one version and the rest...well I got pokemon X specifically because everyone I knew got Y. But for this everyone I know got Omega Ruby, and there are legendaries that you can only get in Sapphire, and then legendaries that you need pokemon from each version to find **more on this towards the end. It can make the game frustrating (I know, global trade markets and stuff, but still, frustrating if you're more of a local player). So that's probably my biggest beef. Second issue I have is probably a personal one, but replay value seems to be getting lost on later generations of games. Again, it could just be me but I find myself less and less interested (the pokemon black/white series bored me with so many garbage pokemon and just dull gameplay - still haven't finished it) in replaying the game or trying anything new. The selections are getting harder to choose from because the pokemon selections are wack, and new pokemon (although this isn't really relative to omega ruby as it's a remake of older pokemon) are just getting dumber (a set of keys as a pokemon? a sword and shield?). They went from somewhat interesting mixes on animals and elements to just plain dumb pokemon based off of ordinary objects (a trashbag pokemon. seriously?). Now for the good part and the reason I gave it 4/5 stars. The gameplay itself is very much the same as the gameplay from X/Y, which is one of the most entertaining ways to play. Seeing the animations is a huge plus, and just the overall improved graphics make it so much more pleasant to play through. As a con tho, I hate what X/Y did with that big city, and I kinda hate what they did with mauville here. You get the grand feeling of being in a giant maze like city, but that's not fun for me. If anything it's insanely frustrating when I'm trying to find one specific place or person. BUT i will say, again, it adds to the overall experience and makes the scenery almost nice to go through (makes traveling to cities before fly kinda nice almost). They also added something that tells you when you've caught all the pokemon in an area, which as I go back to black/white to try and finish I realize was so helpful and kind of an amazing feature. It's one of those little features you don't think too much of until you don't have it and you're like...wow this is annoying can i just repel through this area or do I still have pokemon to catch? Ruby was my last "favorite" game (the rest just haven't done it for me like the first 3 generations), so introducing the gameplay and graphics from X/Y- which is the best and maybe only good part of the series) - to one of the last good generations of games made it very playable for me. They also added a new kind of "fly" option that you get at the end of the game, which makes it great in terms of not really needing to have a flying type as an HM slave. All you need is a flute you get at the end to summon latios/latias and you soar through the skies to wherever you want to go (also unlocks some areas you can't get to otherwise, even with fly). It is DEFINITELY more time consuming than fly, between the animation and actually moving your character above a city at the right position to be able to select land here. But the trade off is you don't need fly (I typically hate 2-move attacks). So take it as you will. Also, there are an insane amount of legendaries between OR/AS and X/Y, so that's kinda cool and fun. **To expand on my previous point, version exclusives make it so you'll have to trade not only to add some to your pokedex, but to even have the option of catching another (for example, legendary A is exclusive to ruby, and legendary B is exclusive to sapphire. To catch the third legendary of the set (legendary C), you need both A and B in your party). So, although my review may sound bitter and negative, I actually do really like this game. It had the same effect on me that ruby had - good game. Not quite as WOW as the first 2 generations (or in this case the first 2 generation remakes), but still a solid game I enjoyed. MIGHT replay this one. The lack of replayability might just be due to me having a long list of games to play right now. Might end up just picking it up every year or so like I do with games like heartgold. The gripes I have are with pokemon just not keeping to quality in terms of creation of new pokemon and stories, but the game has not really gotten any worse in terms of first time enjoyability and overall gameplay. Best games in the series for me have been crystal, soulsilver and yellow, and I have yet to play a game past generation 3 that matches the impact those games had for me.

The perfect nostalgia trip with new surprises
As someone who only played the original games with the basic 151 pokemon I had become a little jaded with the franchise after they kept adding crazy new monsters to force into gladiatorial combat. This changed recently when a friend bought a 3DS with a copy of a newer pokemon game and then proceeded to claim that his skills as a trainer would far outstrip my own and day. Rising to the challenge, I did my research and decided that Omega Ruby was the right game to help me get back into the franchise. After a few hours playing the nostalgia was in full swing. This game offers all the simple fun of capturing and battling monsters of the first games but adds tons of extra ways to improve and interact with your team. One of the greatest features is the ability to train your pokemon in a virtual gym with fun little mini games that raise their stats. Its really great when you don't have a long time to play or want a break from battling. I've also found that the expansive list of pokemon really allows you to build a team that both suits your play preference and taste. I can't really think of anything negative to say about this game. It can feel a little like a grind at times but that's just the nature of games like this! All in all, if you're looking to get back into the series or just looking for the next Pokemon fix I cannot recommend this game enough.

Authentic Copy, Amazing Game
One of the reviewers below said he received a copy that only works in UAE, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. While it's true that the seller ships a copy for the above regions, turns out games for those regions work for a North American 3DS as well (feel free to google this). The game itself is amazing and brought back a lot of memories since I played the original Sapphire almost 20 years ago!
