Souper Cubes came with a hard plastic lid that is easy to stack on. The cheaper ones have a silicone lid that flexes when you stack on top. Souper Cubes also come with some kind of metal frame inside the rim that helps them hold their shape and not flex when filled. You can bake in them but not microwave for this reason. You can not however bake with the lid on! Lid is not oven safe. They wash up very easily too. They're sturdy, easy to clean in the dishwasher, and after a minute on the counter, the soup cubes popped out. I put the frozen blocks in a ziploc bag, and voila, someone who wants one portion of soup can thaw it out quickly. I may buy the 2 cup size, too. But it's nice to have the individual portions so you don't have to wait so long for something to thaw and be eaten.
