I bought the L shape instead. But that's so I can return my 24" large one to my sewing room. I thought about this one but most of my work with fabric and paper both require the L however both styles work great for construction and building and keeping things straight for cutting etc. These are fine. They are not the top of the line where the tool would cost over 50 each but they are perfect for my use and I tend to wear out super cheap styles all to quick. I do use the measurements but I am not as fussy as the other reviewer about which direction the ruler seems to go. That isn't always as important as does the ruler mark off correctly as is an inch a true inch. And therefore I'm happy with the L I choose for my book binding/paper craft room. My eyesight has a problem that can not be corrected by glasses that's gotten worse and one thing I do with the L is fold paper evenly edged which until a year or two ago I could eye perfectly now either of these tools is most helpful with that chore. I haven't had the paint rub off. And I have the 24" one for over 25 years so that's saying something and hubby now and again borrows it for his construction jobs. Those are rare times as he has his own tools mind you. The 25 year old one isn't this brand but they are similar in quality compared to my smaller 12" one from Mr Pen.
