I would suggest using the foam inserts provided to keep your watches securely in place & for added protection watches can be wrapped in a micro fibre cloth. I feel extremely comfortable storing my high value Rolex watches in this WatchPod case without fear of any form of damage &/or scratches & full confidence that my watches are safe & secure. I would feel completely confident storing watches of ANY value in this case! Storing the watch on a cushion, like in traditional watch cases, tends to put stress on my watch straps since I have small wrists. Lying the watch flat solves this problem and also makes it easy to put the watch in and take it out. The foam pads are nice for providing a bit of cushioning, but also to ensure the watch doesn't shift around in the case. It's not the flashiest or sleekest-looking case, but I like that, as when I'm travelling, particularly to unknown places, I don't want my watch case to scream 'expensive.'
