Router, Fixed/Plunge Base Combo Kit, 11-Amp, 1-3/4 HP, (DW616PK)

It was very confusing buying a mini router without trying it first. There’s so many good ones to choose from. After reading the reviews on Amazon I decided to buy the Dewalt. Lo and behold the reviews were spot on and the router operates as expected?

Chose this model because all my other dewalt tools use the hard case, so why not complete the set. However I didn't notice this model while the same price as the dw618, the dw616 lacks the soft start and variable speed. I read the specs for the 18 and assumed this was the same but in a hard case and less powerful motor... My own fault for not paying attention. It does the job fine. The motor is very easy to swap between bases. Bit changes are easy (I prefer the 2 wrench approach). Height adjustment is super easy and fast between passes. Haven't used the plunge base yet but it seems like it will work nicely. Much nicer to work with than my porter cable from decades ago. Really wish this had the features of the dw618... This is probably an older design that hasn't received the upgrades that others have in the line. The case like all dewalt hard cases isn't perfect but does keep things mostly under control. There are places for most everything. There are places for bits, collets, wrenches, plunge base, fixed base, edge guide, and I found a place for the centering tool. The only thing I'm not sure what to do with is the vacuum adapter. I prefer the hard cases as the soft ones end up full of everything but the tool that came with them. :) Needed a router because I hadn't used mine in years and gave the old one away. Turns out a router is one of those things you should always have around. Chose dewalt because my other tools are mostly from this company and haven't had any issues with any of them. So far this carries on that tradition.

This is gonna be fun. Just be careful with it.

I have a small palm router but this does everything. You can hook it to a router table (my main use) and also do plunge routing. The case is a real one, not just a bag. Has space for some bits and all the tools.

Good router, bought as a warehouse deal. When it arrived it was in its original case, the only thing that was wrong with it was something was loose inside the casing. Took it apart and found that it was a piece of plastic flashing that had broken off a support of sorts that wasn't being used for anything in this model, put it back together and it works just fine. Very powerful for its size.Great buy, very happy with it.

El equipo es garantia, pero me llego incompleto, la unica opcion qeu me dieron fue solicitar reembolso para despues comprarlo nuevamente. Estoy en ese inter.

It is well designed from the popular 6 inch base to go in old router table like black and decker comercial to strong construction Good plunge base with very fine adjustment and the fence will someday go in the right side the way i know the 1 and 3/4 Horsepower to be safe is conforting for me too very easy to make larger lexan bases oriented screw holes the 4 on fixed The trio on plunge base easy to work with look fowards to make good joints with this router not so much decoration
