Walt Disney's Bambi: The Story and the Film

I was a little worried that copy of the book wouldn't be in the best condition (being that it's a book published in 1990). But to my tremendous surprise the book arrived in perfect (and I mean PERFECT) condition. It looks as if it was published this year. For real. Also, my copy included the flip book.As for the book itself, if you're a fan of Bambi (or of Disney animation for that matter) it's a must read.

This book is full of character sketches and backgrounds. These illustrations company the story, which is the first half of this book. And the behind the story, or making of, is the last half of the book.

I now have all 4 books written by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. "The Illusion of Life", "The Disney Villain", "Too Funny for Words" and now "Walt Disney's Bambi :The story and Film"This book is a must have if you are interested in the making of Bambi or Disney art in general.

Without a doubt one of the finest film books that I have ever come upon! BAMBI: The Story And The Film by Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas is a treat to both eye and the mind. Using sketches, drawings and paintings created during the course of the film's making, along with insightful text by two of Bambi's artists, this book is a work of art in its own right. This book, along with the latest BAMBI DVD, would provide anyone interested with an appreciation of this film unlike any college course could. If you love this film like I do, you will throughly enjoy this now out-of-print book. HIGHEST RATING!

I wasn't aware of this title until just very recently, and I had collected almost all of the Art of titles. I liked it so much I bought two copies. The book is filled to the brim with sketches, drawings/paintings, film stills, publicity photos, and rich text on the making of this Disney classic. It's not as big as the Hyperion titles such as Tarzan or as wide as the later titles such as Monsters Inc., but I think the dimensions of this particular title make it a very durable book for the animation library and for the ages. Pick this one up before it's ridiculously expensive.

Wonderful book for anyone interested in the story and art of Disney's Bambi

Good book with instructions on how to draw figures but was expecting a book for a two year old. This book is for eight to adult age.

Was in decent quality and one of my favorite disney movies with one of the best visuals for environments and animals

If you are a fan of Bambi you should have it in your collection ! Item was in a very good condition !

Be careful buying this from Amazon. It advertises it as being the book & flipbook but when it arrived it was just the book. When I complained thry just send that’s a shame, send it back & we will refund you. No attention to give ne the product I ordered. The description clearly says it comes with the flip book & shows it in second photo.Despite this the book is a beautiful looking book about a stunning animation that I’m looking forward to fully reading.

The miracle of how Bambi was achieved over a seven year period, was overlooked on release, yet conjures up sincere emotions today, is appreciatively detailed in this wondrous book illustrating how Disney tried to find a way to tell the story cinematically, and make the magic work technically. Essential for anyone interested in classic animation and/or film storytelling.
