Stopped the cat being naughty in the corner!
So, first, overall, huge approval of this mechanism. I have a naughty kitty I couldn't stop from going in a corner of the house, in my gym! Tried everything! btw, those hormones that are sold that profess to stop cats from fighting and tinkling? huge waste of money.I got the notion to get one of these barking motion detectors. It instantly stopped the naughty behavior! An oddity, the smallest cat, it doesn't detect. Fortunately, she is not the problem.I have another cat, he's the most curious, impish, and intelligent; he teases the "dog", which can be annoying, but I'd rather have that nuisance than the odiferous nuisance. The offending kitty is also not large. She can access her hiding place nearby without detection, so that's fine. The barking operates so that the first detection elicits one bark. If the detection persists, it quickly lets out a couple barks. If intrusion continues, it really lets loose, which is enough to chase not only any cat, but ME.Lastly, this machine comes with a great remote. So, I can arm and disarm the machine without having to endure the noisy barking every time I want to use my gym. It also has a panic button so I can scare the cats without them knowing I'M the one making it happen. So, maybe not helpful for anyone looking to scare people, but may be the salvation of a naughty kitty whose parents are at wits end. :)ps. I wish there were some way to set this up outdoors around the garden to keep out the squirrels and bunnies without having to put up a cage. Manufacturers? if you are reading this? :)

Bad Dog
I do not recommend this productCons:1- The unit's dog bark makes little attempt at realism. The bark is repetitive (pattern is BARK PAUSE BARK BARK BARK) and then repeats2 - The microwave system range adjustment must be advanced close to maximum to penetrate the exterior wall (dry wall, insulation and T-111 plywood siding. The wall attenuates the range so much that a person approaching the door from the outside will NOT be detected until they are at the door.3 - The unit cannot be used in a room where there is any movement inside (kitchen, living room etc.). This is because the microwave detection field spills out into the room and people or pets moving about the room WILL set the unit off.4 - The movement detection with the microwave system is "anything that moves": leaves, animals, wind, sun heating of concrete walkwaysPros:1 - satisfactory loud volume for barking, chime and alarm2 - easy to install

really sounds like a dog
We have two of these, the front and back of our home. It works well through doors and walls , not metal. An unexpected addition is now I know when we receive packages; take that porch pirates !!!!!

Yeah, it barks - but only at me inside the house!
Purchased 12/2023 Status: Returned. I really wanted this to work as ADVERTISED- movement outside of house & receiver then makes noise, either alarm siren or dog barking sounds or even a neutral door bell sound. The device did make those sounds but like others have stated - inside the house when they were moving around.1.I tried multiple times to get this to work, my neighbors if watching me were probably wondering why I kept walking out my side gate & going to my front door, over & over again! I placed this item in different locations along wall inside, on table, on floor -- checked & redialed the range/sensitivity knob & never got it to work with me approaching the door from outside.2.The only time I got it to work - I put it up against the wooden door & then when I approached the door, standing within 6 inches of door NOTHING! - but when I then turned the doorknob to enter & the door itself started to move & vibrate, then the device worked.3.I even followed the advice of other reviewers, & put the device inside a metal pot in an effort to prevent the microwave signal from reading movement in the house & focusing on just the wall area & read thru it as advertised, this still did not work - stopped reading me inside the house but still failed to read movement outside of house. see picture.4.WHY am I giving this 2 stars overall & 3 stars for motion detection: Because the concept behind the product is good, it does detect motion - just not as it's being "advertised" for use for - as a alarm to scare away possible intruders.Dogs: People often get a pet dog for the purpose of protection along with companionship. And the dog barking sound on this is for someone who doesn't want to own a dog - however, the one time I did manage to get this to work while kinda being outside, THE VOLUME of the dog bark was really MUTED/FAINT even though the volume was turned up high on the device. [The inside front area of my house has tile floors & shutters on windows, so sound often is louder in that area]I will say that under certain circumstances, this device is a good choice for an inexpensive alarm notification. One without any type of subscription costs & in the line of do it yourself application.**At night, upon going to bed activate the device using the siren alarm, if someone gets a window/door opened the motion detection will go off & the intruder may think an alarm service might be notified to dispatch someone & will leave. Also you will wake up due to alarm & can call police.**Have a senior person in home who may need attention - activate the alarm at night & give them remote, they can then hit the siren alarm for assistance/help.**Place this device outside, in a protected location, & use it to scare off critters or just someone who might approach house (make sure device is hidden, & at night the light button is covered so it won't show) - this way your movements in house will not trigger it, but movement outside will day or night. In conclusion, I can see where this device might work - I am now of the opinion that I might have received a defective device, as the more I tried to get it to work, it seem to fatigue during the testing. The final test was outside - I put it on a table in an enclosed patio, armed it & after the beep, walked at it straight on from 30ft and all the way up to it, not any reaction. Moved my hands in front & circled around & nothing. Final decision: Returned item, after three days of not being able to get it to work.

Works as intended
I bought this after weeks of reading reviews, and am happy with it. It does sound slightly tinny; but, it has made 3 men back away from my door upon hearing it.It sounds like a big dog, and it startled them not staying close enough to realize it is fake and slightly repetitive. It barks once every day at the mail carrier. They quickly step on and off the porch; so, if they hear it, I am sure they realize it is the same each time. If they stuck on the porch a bit longer, the barks get louder and more profuse. Slightly more difficult to denote the repetitiveness.I have it pointed backwards into my front door. When I get near it, inside, it also barks at me. You can change the sensitivity some, though, I have not messed with it much.I TRULY appreciate the sound off when I am inside. It tells me when someone or something is near. Easily captures movement through the non-metal door and screen slightly metal frame, and the front wall, Non metal.I may, eventually, buy a second version next Summer, to trade out the sounds for those whom decide to repeatedly enter my property.Very happy with this item.
