The Insects: Structure and Function 5th Edition

When I picked up this book at my local post office I had to pay €15 ($19.5) for special handling ???? I received a huge bag, all sealed, and wasn't sure what to expect? Opening the bag, it was simply my book Insects......probably US Customs didn't read the description properly ;-) and thought it would be life insects....LOLno harm done, it's a great book....and a fun story to tell......just cost me €15 extra

I didn't really buy the book for the cover but to read it, would have been nice if it came in uninjured but as the pictures show, the cover and back are injured some. Not a deal breaker, of course, but kind of upsetting.

Came across this book by chance in the library, and had to have a copy of it. Turns out it is a classic in its field, and a must-have for anyone seriously interested in entomology. Dense but well-organized, it is a challenging book but well worth the effort.

Very good book to understand the biology of insects in some details. Some basic knowledge of biology is a prerequisite to fully benefit from such a book.

Great text. I've used this for years and it is nice to have this latest edition. Research changes all the time.

The book is well written and proposes a litany of examples showing different physiological processes in different orders of insects.However, after less that a few months, and quite frankly minimal use due to the overly complex vernacular, the glue binding has broken in half, leading to a few pages being pulled out. For a book supposed to last me my entire graduate career, 3 months and pages are falling out is unacceptable.

It is an updated, multi authored edition of the world acclaimed textbook on insect physiology. It has retained the general pattern used by Chapman, but there are many recent explanations of function based on advances in molecular biology.
