Resistant to water, dirt, beer, wine, cola and saliva, Osmo Polyx-Oil is microporous and molecularly bonds with the wood, meaning it does not crack, flake, peel or blister. Wanted to up the game by getting a nicer finish and this has had good video reviews. This is much nicer than the water based polys I had been using! This applies even and coverage good combined with well sanded pieces. Sanded to 220-320G is about right. This has a slight yellow tint so it makes the wood warmer looking. I use a 5cc syringe to place drops on the surface of my small pieces then rub cross grain using a cotton cloth. That 5cc of this has been enough to cover about a 12x12" area easily depending how dry the wood is. After the first coat, a light sanding with 600 or 1000G to catch any risers-dust that may have become stuck during the process. This small can will go a long way with my projects. The purple heart I put this on is really beautiful following. Have also had it an birdseye maple, curly maple, walnut, cherry with excellent results. On a few cherry pieces it was blotchy but that's part of working with cherry. Does not take a lot to achieve nice results either. Review: A little goes a L O N G way!! - I watched a YouTube video of a young man (Matt Estlea) from England (?) , an English accent I think. He used a unique way to apply the Osmo, a non-abrasive pad. It worked GREAT! Allowed for very thin coats which is key to applying this product and ASLO this application method really and I mean REALLY stretched the product out. According to the coverage on the can I was going to have enough for two coats with just a little leftover. Using this young man’s method, I barely used a quarter / half inch of the can. The end result is BEAUTIFUL….it looks very natural.
