Great device, great flexibility with the serial interface!
I love this product! I use Hulu Live TV with the unlimited screen option because I tend to use the Disney+/ESPN+/Hulu suite quite a bit, so it's a better value for me than YouTube TV. But YouTube TV does have one feature Hulu lacks, multiscreen view for sports. However, even that doesn't solve the Thursday night problem where NFL is on Prime, so I was looking for a device where I could provide multiple inputs and show them on the screen at one time. For this purpose, 1080P was fine, and this device does it perfectly. But the remote doesn't cover the full functionality of this device, especially when it comes to switching which window is providing the audio at any given time, the remote only allows you to cycle through the inputs (you can't pick the 3rd input directly for audio, for instance). However, this capability did exist using commands sent over the serial port interface on the device. So I got OREI's serial cable and hooked up the device to an old linux laptop and played around with issuing commands. I very quickly evolved that into a fully functional iPhone web app interface (pic attached) and have it running on a very small Raspberry Pi zero connected full time to the device. I now have tremendous flexibility and functionality, where I can quickly switch modes, switch audio, and swap windows. Hopefully OREI offers a device in the future with wifi and app capability built in, it's a game changer! I will say I tried this model (supports up to 4K@30hz) and the next model up that supports 4K@60hz. The more expensive model did support the 4K@60hz resolution, but it didn't support Dolby Atmos, so since I would have to downgrade on the audio I decided it was okay to limit myself to 4 1080P devices and basic 5.1 sound. I didn't try the cheaper model that supports only 1080P because I was so satisfied with the capability to configure this model that I stuck with it.

Very functional 4k quad multiviewer with audio options.
I needed a 4K multiviewer to watch data channels and tracker data for F1 races. This box allows pretty much all combinations of screen outputs from 1,2,3 or 4 screens which is independent on each output. Picture quality is great with no noticeable difference or lag from direct display. Several people have commented on no HDR support and I can confirm this - the two YouTube stats for nerds images from my 4K max fire stick show BT709 with the multiviewer vs full BT2020 direct. However, with this limitation, and the poor quality remote, the unit itself is really very flexible and functional. I saw a comment about stretched images but you can select 16:9 to correct this (see example images in full or 16:9 modes). To switch which hdmi input is the main screen, you need to go into the menu opts for that output, but it can be done (see menu image). Audio can be muted or selected from any feed or each output. For the price, this is excellent and only the lack of HDR is missing. However, HDR units seem to be many hundreds of dollars more. I would recommend.

Works great
Overall it works great. I can watch multiple shows or sports events at one time. The video quality is great. I only deducted a star because the controller is a little wonky but overall it’s worth it.

This multiview does what I need it to do in a compact form size so I can have it on my desk and the price was right

Pictures in Error: the MR does not have a VGA port! Otherwise, Good unit.
I have only had this for a few weeks, and I like to use electronics for at least a few months before reviewing, but I will come back and edit if it just glitches out on me. The pictures shown in this listing (as of 02/23/2021) are incorrect, and do not depict the HD-401MR. Half of them are shots of the newer unit, the HD-401MV. The MR does NOT have a VGA output and much simpler and less versatile controls. You can see the model number right on the unit in the pictures, so I bet someone who does not read english characters is to blame. If you expected to get the VGA input, I'd complain to Amazon; I think that legally they have to honor the sale of the product shown in the listing. EDIT: I just noticed that now ALL of the pictures are of the MV (with one VGA output added) unit, none of the MR (HDMI only). The made it worse! I don't know why they'd do this. If you want the MV for the price of the MR, buy from this listing! If they send you an MR, demand an MV because that's what they advertised! They have to honor their advertisement and not simply refund your money. They deserve this for not keeping their house in order. By the time you read this, they may have corrected this issue. (Nope.) If so, I can say that this is a decent unit. I only needed to be able to show four displays on one, and switch to just one display occasionally. It does this perfectly. Two of the inputs are the main screen and an additional monitor for a desktop. I can arrange to displays on the system to match the one-over-the-other configuration I get on the monitor, so I have no issues with moving the mouse between screens. I'm taking off two stars for the pictures of the wrong model in the listing. But I would have taken one star off for the almost worthless other display options that are available. They all change the aspect ratio to fit the area they designed, and who needs two screens in the middle with two tall but ultra-squished frames on either side? I think they could have come up with some better configuration options given the same effort, such as: Picture-in-picture: One input fills the whole monitor in proper aspect ratio, with one input covering one corner, with the ability to chose which corner it covers. Three-on-one-side: Similar to an option they have, but done while maintaining the aspect ratio of the larger image, and the ability to switch the sides that the three monitors are placed. Just some suggestions. Perhaps when this review reaches corporate headquarters they'll contact me for a consult. The big takeaway: maintaining aspect ratio is something customers want.

Does exactly what it's supposed to.
I bought this so my daughter can watch her shows and I can play my game. As you can see it does exactly what it's meant to. Easy to set up and the remote is easy to figure out. Five stars.
