Nice concept
This book start a little boring but ends in an unexpected way. It’s an interesting image of the world so if you love science-fiction and journals this is the book for you.

Cody is fantastic.
I've been a long time fan of Cody's videos, and it was great to see how he translates such vast concepts as how history shifts to such a personal story as that of Ansel and Ulric. While it is a bit of a slow burn at first, the latter half of the book really shines. I saw how it was panning out and had an idea of the conclusion, but the end really was surprising. I expected the world and uncovering of history to be the primary focus, but the history is more to accent the characters. While it's not what I expected, I'm not at all disappointed. It's less about the history of the world, but more about the people who live in this world, of which you only see a small sliver of. That's the only flaw I can see, and it's less a flaw and more a gripe. I wish we could have seen more of it. Yet, as far as the book is concerned, we see enough to make the story work, and the story is well worth reading. I hope to see more in the future.

Good but not great alternate history adventure.
I'm a huge fan of Cody's YouTube channel AlternateHistoryHub so when I heard he wrote an alternate history novel I pre-ordered it, just like many others I'm sure. So I think there might be some bias among these reviews so keep that in mind. The overall story is great and it pulled me in, I pretty much read the whole book in one sitting. The writing is good however the character development could be better, and unfortunately some of the plot is super cliche.Another thing is there are quite a few editing mistakes. It happens and I'm willing to let the small stuff slide but at one point it becomes apparent that multiple lines must have been taken out and the subsequent text wasnt changed to account for this.Edit: found another editing error that literally gives away the nature of a certain object before its discovered by the characters... Pretty bad oversight there.Edit2: knocked a star off... There is an entire page missing from the paperback version. It just skips ahead in the plot... Maybe this isn't present in the Kindle version but really? Gramatical errors are one thing but an entire page just missing?!Edit 3: Publisher's acknowledged their mistake and are sending me a corrected copy, any new buyers I'm sure will receive a good one, I updated my rating.Overall it's an entertaining look Into an interesting alternate history and I think for a first novel Cody did a great job, however there are definitely areas of improvement. If you like alternate history buy the book!

An untouched topic that's told in great detail
I bought this book specifically because of who the author is, AlternateHistoryHub on Youtube. I've seen plenty of his videos and with the detail and research he uses for those, I figured this book wouldn't disappoint, and it didn't. It's a unique story set in an alternative history to our own that centered around a specific change that you don't see really anywhere else. It's not too long and gets right to the point of what it's trying to convey. The only issue I have which is really just minor one is that, at least with my copy, pages 154 and 155 are in the wrong position and just need to be flipped. So what's labeled as 154 is really 155 and what's labeled 155 is really 154.Aside from that minor issue, it's a great book I'd definitely recommend.

A Glimpse Into an Entrancing World
Alright, let me get the bad out of the way real quick: this book needs another editorial draft. There were several grammatical and formatting mistakes, especially in theearly pages (<-like that, for example), that caused me a few hitches now and again. Also, the lack of "tabbing" of the paragraphs feels different compared to countless other novels, and not necessarily in a good way. Please keep that in mind when I say that I picked up this book as soon as it arrived and couldn't put it down again until I'd read it cover to cover. The fact that this book is based off of a little-known historical tale is fascinating in and of itself. Yes, the Atlantropa Aritcles were a real thing, cooked up by a crazy architect exactly as described in this book, and the idea was so ludicrous that even Hitler and Co thought he was nuts.Cody, though, takes this idea and absolutely RUNS with it: all throughout the book are little fascinating tidbits, glimpses and pieces of a world beyond the snapshot we see that leave me salivating for more. What of the lands to the south? What of across the Atlantic? What about Asia? These and many more questions flashed through my mind like gunshots with just the briefest mention from the book as seemingly throw-away lines from the protagonist send my mind in all kinds of crazy and fascinating directions. But that's not to say that the story and characters themselves aren't fantastic. Far from it: all the named characters are absolutely brilliantly portrayed, with the main character Ansel being a fascinating "anti-hero" who at once always wants to do the right thing by absolutely doing the *wrongest* things. Even the lesser named characters are memorable due to their vivid descriptions and characterizations. All serving to help draw me into this insane world and help me believe that such madness could ever actually exist.I want more of this world. Whether it's from the same character's perspective or someone different, I want to learn more about this world and its people. To see how things are different and - depressingly - how they are the same. This book is an amazing start, and I eagerly look forward to more if it comes!

Great for a first novel
Like almost - if not everyone - I come here because of his channel regarding alternate history. And because of that, I thought this was going to be an interesting trip of worldbuilding, I wasn't concerned much regarding characters. Well, Cody made a great story for being his first novel. Excellent worldbuilding, great artwork, and such an unknown topic pre-World War II that it's a nice change of pace from the average topics used in historical and alternate history genres. However, there's one thing that bothered me and it was mainly the focus on the brothers, but putting the rest of the cast in the background. Outside of that, it's a great first story and I can't wait when Cory publishes another novel (if he does, and I hope he does).Regarding the state, it arrived in a decent state. Nothing outside of the ordinary. Would highly recommend as an introduction to alternate history or just a change of pace when writing about the Nazis.

A huge tease, but a satisfying one!
Clearly a best foot put forward, this is, in my opinion, a very strong debut as writer, especially tackling such a non-conventional approach to future dystopia. A tightly-packed, intimate story, it takes its time during the first few chapters, but the obvious sense of an impending crescendo does not disappoint in the end. I could very easily see a 10 book series stemming from this exercise in soft world-building. A gem not-quite-in-the-rough, with very palpable atmosphere throughout. Highly recommend.

VERY GOOD
VERY GOOD BUT A LITTLE MORE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WOULD MAKE IT BETTER. THE CHACARTERS DOESN'T LEARN ANYTHING THROUGH THE HISTORY
