Singapore Math โ 70 Must-Know Word Problems Workbook for 6th Grade Math, Paperback, Ages 11โ12 with Answer Key (Volume 4) Review: Pre algebra word problems.. - Not for 5th grade level. Probably 6th or 7th grade level. Very good word problems to practice pre algebra. Answer sheets have weird explanations using diagram. I ignored that, and taught my son to use algebra concept. Very good questions. Horrible answer instruction. Still five starts because it was very useful for my son to practice algebra word problems. Review: Great Alternative Thinking - I home school and my 10-year-old needs math challenges constantly. I love how Singapore gives him a different way to look at story problems. He always looked forward to working in it and too often had to pulled away to other subjects. The answers are shown in detail and this allows for rapid growth. My son always found it interesting when Singapore got the same answer, but in a different way. We have done two others in the series and have never been disappointed.

Very useful for getting my kid ahead in school.
Despite the fact that my daughter doesn't particularly care for this book, since she has to do it at home, she does say that she finds school a lot easier since she uses and learns from this book. Overall I'd have to say it's been very useful and beneficial to helping her get her smarts!

Very in depth
The questions are not commonly seen in US education system, wish the answers have more detailed tutorial explanation.

So Far, So Good
Using this book as an addition to a regular textbook. Challenging problems, but with parental help, the kid eventually understands the way they work. The explanations are not very helpful, so can't be a self-study book. We haven't got far yet, but looking forward to it. Wish they had more problems on each topic. The book is great, I don't see this type of problems in regular 5-6 grade textbooks.

Too advanced
The word problems are harder than they say. The book is rated for 6th grade math. Maybe for later in the ear- I am tutoring a 6th grader, who hasn't learned this advanced of some of the fractions in the word problems. The answer key also doesn't have how to solve the problems- just the answers- which would have been much more easier.

Great problem solving book with student question pages and teacher ...
Great problem solving book with student question pages and teacher solution pages. Most importantly the solution pages show the Singapore methods of answering them!! I wish the solution pages had the question typed out instead of just a reference number. The solution page is full size, however because of all the solution information required (visual, written, and algorithm).

Great problem solving
Great problem solving. I've been a teacher for over 20 years and the problems in the this book are so much more challenging than what our text books normally have. No wonder Singapore students rate so high in math.

There are seventy problems and answers in this book and a LOT of empty space. I wanted to stretch high achieving Year 6 pupils for 11+ grammar school entrance exams. This book showed lack of imagination and variety in the word problems. I will use it for Year 5, high achieving 10 year olds.
