Sure-Pak MREs Case (Meals Ready-to-Eat) Genuine U.S. Civilian MRE Box with Heaters - 12 Meals

I bought these to have around, you know, just in case. I placed a couple in each of the vehicles for emergency use, and have some at home.Thinking I should try one, I opened up a "chili-macaroni" dinner. Inside I found the entree, a package of flat-bread type crackers, a packet of spiced apples (similar to pie-filling, although a little thinner), a packet of strawberry jam, a fig cookie, a lime drink mix, and a condiment package containing instant coffee, sugar, creamer, salt, pepper, a napkin, and a spoon.Also included is the heating packet, which I used to heat the entree. The heating packet did the job with the entree, in fact I had to wait a few minutes before the package was cool enough to handle. I also believe there was enough heat left to have warmed up the apples as well. I found all the food to be very good. Not dinner out on Saturday night mind you but they were all tasty. No nasty surprises at all.I feel that these will be perfect to have around to supplement whatever food source you have available, should the times and circumstances demand it.

Over the past few months I have become interested in disaster preparedness, especially since the blizzard of 09. As a result I went online and ordered a number of half cases of MREs to try with my family in the interest of determining which brands that I should purchase.To do this I had all three members of my family taste each entrée and rate it on a four point scale: Check plus - very good, Check -acceptable to good, Check minus - I'd eat it, and X - I'd rather starve.I also had everyone rate the general quality of the MRE on the same scale. This includes the raw amount of food, the overall quality of the side dishes (if any) and the sides, and the overall taste of the sides and snacks.After eating MREs for the entire New Year's three day weekend these Sopacs tied for first place with the A-Packs. (There was one MRE that did better then both of these, but they are almost impossible to find and are expensive because shipping is not included in the price per case. Since these were originally made for a certain security company that used to be named after dark "water" and were sold after they scaled back their operations in Iraq you can understand their scarcity.)The quality of the Sopacs is excellent. There is plenty of food. Every Sopac MRE comes with a moist side dish like a military MRE. This is a slight plus over the A-packs because it helps to give greater variety to the meals. Besides, if you are in a survival situation you want to be reminded of the "good ole days" through the foods that you eat. I imagine most people have corn, rice, and the like as side dishes most nights... and that's exactly what you get in each Sopac. However no-one in my family was really thrilled with the "Mexican corn" or the "fried rice" sides. I guess we eat too much authentic ethnic cuisine to enjoy either one.With that said I have purchased a supply of Sopac in case of a "rainy day" and I plan on purchasing more in the near future. I also have a few cases of the other two brands on hand just in case. Remember that during a multi -week disaster situation you will need to eat a variety of foods to avoid "menu fatigue" - you don't want to get so tired of eating the same thing over and over to the point that you just don't want to eat anything. Thus it's a good idea to include multiple types of entrees in your disaster store for variety. You also need to remember that the U.S. government has stated that a person shouldn't eat MREs for more then 20 days at the time. So if you're planning to store more then three weeks worth of food you will want to include some freeze dried foods in addition to MREs. You will also need some multi vitamins as well...Good luck with your disaster preparedness purchases. Remember, you need to prepare now because when a disaster strikes it is too late.

Same here, all dinner menus and there were three of one kind and four of another, then two and two and one, so five menus total, of the Five menus, Eight Were chicken of some sort. Where is breakfast? The only reason, the pure and only reason this product was purchased was for the breakfast menus. And Zero came. If I wanted regular MRE's i would have gone with regular dinner MRE's, Also, Almost all chicken, really? That sounds very cheap. Wasn't even a balanced box. This was a gift for someone as a "new" different MRE than the ones they had, when they opened, they were like, oh, more MRE's thanks. The gift of the different was totally lost to them because it wasn't breakfast. Such false advertising. And where these were sent, they aren't sending them back, that is just not happening. Its near impossible actually. Granted food is food there, not getting them something special definitely made me one sad panda.

These Rothco civilian MREs are not the military style ones, because allowing us to buy those would compromise the security of our combat personnel...somehow. So if you don't want to break a very heinous, stupid, and well, illegal law, you will have to get these.They work, though not as well, Lacking some of the accessories of the better (illegal) ones. They will last a long time and will keep you alive.Beware any of the products with pasta or rice. Scratch that, FEAR any of the products with pasta or rice...

First off, I can say that the MRE's are fine, but the vendor did NOT send the correct product, only dinner menus were in stock when I ordered breakfast, and although heaters were to be included, they didn't have any of those either, so they tell me I am out of luck. Terrible vendor response..."Sorry, we thought we had them in stock, there's nothing we can do." I will not order these via Amazon again, but it's not strictly Amazon's fault.
