I've tried them all. This is the best type of quick release out there in my opinion. It works.
These work great. BUT... yes... you will have to cut your strap and do some sewing. Just use a lighter on the end of the nylon strap after you cut it to keep it from frazzling and make sure you pinch the ends together while it is still hot to melt it together. You'll see what I mean when you cut the strap to length. Duh, use gloves or something to do this, not your bare hands, Can't believe I have to say that, but I do. I guess I have to say you should probably get a professional seamstress to do the sewing and to use some really high quality and tough string too. The snap on the on the clasp side is holding really well. I'll probably sew that too, just to be sure though. I adjusted mine to fit with 4 clicks in. This leaves me some wiggle room either way. It has 7 clicks worth of adjustment. The reason I say you have to sew it is because it will not hold adjustment on the strap alone on the male end. They could have done a different job on that end so you wouldn't have had to sew it, but it is way better sewn. I've had helmets with this kind of attachment before and it is so much better than the D ring loops. Just click it in and go. Taking it off, just grab the little red strap and pull it away from you and it opens instantly. Or you can dig your finger under the red strap, either way it works. You could even run a small string/strap/cord through the little red strap to give you a longer release cord to grab. What ever you choose. I don't do that because experience tells me that a longer cord will be slapping my neck at higher speeds in the wind. But it works great as is. I left both of the D rings on mine and ran the snap strap through both. I guess you could cut one of the D rings off but it is not a bother or problem. I bought two of these and will put the other one on my other helmet soon enough. I put in a photo so you can see what I'm talking about. This is the way to go. Not a quick 1 minute job, but it works way better than the other methods of quick releases and I've bought all of them and tried them all and this one is the one I'm using. This is my review and I paid full price. None of that discounted price for a review thing here. Just an old biker of 40+ years who has owned over 30 helmets. I always go back to this type of release. Always. It just works. Hope this helps you in your decision.

Easy to install.
The first time I saw this style, I loved it. I had an Echo quick release on my full-faced Bilt helmet (15/16 inch strap), and even though it worked, sometimes it was hard to line up the two hooks to go into the plastic part. Sometimes only one hook would attach and this made it very difficult to remove (sort of like a mis-thread) This unit seemed to be much better and there would be no way to mis-feed the male end. I looped the snap through the D-Ring and fastened it like you would any other strap in a D-Ring before snapping it closed. This way, even if the snap came undone, that part is still threaded through the D-Ring like the normal strap would be and should still hold. The other end took a little bit of work due to the snap at the end of the strap. I just used a pair of pliers and flattened the plastic snap down (essentially destroying it, but I never used it anyways) and it fed through the piece just fine. Just be sure to feed it through the right way. If you feed it through one way, and then tug on it and it slips, just feed it the opposite way and it should hold nice and tight. I folded up the excess strap and used a hair tie to keep it bundled up. I haven't been able to ride with it yet, but it seems like it will be exactly what I wanted. I pulled on both ends to try and see if it would slip, or if the snap would come loose. Held tight, so I'm confident it will stay in place while riding. I will be ordering more for my other helmets.

Some assembly required
Item arrived on time & in good order; the buckle receiver attaches to the D-ring side no problem, but the other end will require some sort of modification to fit your helmet since no two helmets (or riders) are alike; there are several options to do this; I started by cutting off the 'flap snap', threaded the strap through the ridged insertion part, and tightened to where it was comfortable & secure (leaving enough slack for cold weather gear) this left a lot of loose strap; after considering it for awhile, I cut the excess strap short and secured it with electrical tape; I may replace the tape with stitching later, after I road-test it some; I'd have to re-sew the strap if I changed my mind later, but I can do that; in the end I got good results, so I think it's a good option for the price; you'll have to decide for yourself what works best, just know that you will have to do some modifications, like most 'universal fit' items. EDIT-I did end up trimming & sewing the excess strap, and used it during the entire 2018 riding season (about 6-7 months here in Maine) and bought one for the wife-we both love them, makes taking our helmets off & putting them on a breeze, and feels secure & comfortable when on

Way too long, not safe, no-return policy
This buckle makes the strap on my motorcycle helmet (Bell Qualifier) waaaay too long. No chance of this working on the helmet unless you're okay with having 2 inches of room between the strap and your chin. Not safe.Speaking of not safe: the part attaching to the d-rings is just clipped in and doesn't loop through the actual d-rings. Not sure how much pulling force the little silver button clip could withstand in case of an accident. The whole pulling weight is just held by the one button clip. Wouldn't want to bet my life on this button clip holding and not snapping open, would you?Lastly there is a no return policy for this item which is not dramatic given the low price but still outrageous, after all this a non-customized item ordered through Amazon. No retailer would dare to do this.
