Peace of Mind for My Utility Room
I have been trying to get my smart home setup more streamlined lately, so I decided to pick up this leak detector kit. Since I already have a few other Matter devices running on my network, setting these up was a total breeze. The system comes with the main controller and three sensors. I placed one under my kitchen sink, one near my water heater, and the last one behind my washing machine. They seem really sturdy and the plastic doesnt feel cheap at all. The 100dB alarm is honestly loud enough. One thing to keep in mind is that while they claim a three year battery life, that heavily depends on your Wi-Fi signal strength at the sensor location. If the sensor is constantly struggling to maintain a connection to your network, the battery will drain much faster than expected. Water leak sensors actually rely on a very simple physical principle. They use two small metal probes that, when bridged by water, complete an electrical circuit which triggers the alert. It is pretty low tech but incredibly effective. Overall, these are a solid addition to any smart home and have already given me some extra peace of mind. Highly recomended for anyone worried about potential water damage.

It's okay.
There is no way that the hub is anywhere close to 100dB. Pairing to Home Assistant was fiddly. I had to try multiple times to get it to finally pair. The hub also keeps beeping even though HA is reading that they are all clear. The range hasn't been a problem between the hub and the sensors.

It's an okay concept but not fully sold
I'm usually a full in fan of ThirdReality products but this one I'm kind of meh about. I gave it 4 stars but really it's a 3.5 star item for me. So I needed to replace some water leak sensors from the old Govee wifi options I've been using. I don't like devices that need to access a cloud especially ones in a critical role. So I was happy to have a Matter option given I use a HA setup and a Matter antenna with it. The sensors weren't the simplest to connect to Home Assistant. They took a couple times getting the hub connected which isn't a typical issue for me and Matter devices. The actual sensors have a good amount of battery life and I like the appearance with the water drop shape of them. Getting 3 Matter sensors for under $40 is a good price and value for your dollars. While the sensors are small enough to get into tight areas I need to monitor for water leaks, I will say that the central hub being the only part that alerts is a little annoying. I get the idea that maybe you might not be near enough to hear the sensor itself but it feels like these would be better with the ability for the sensor ALSO to alert. Just for peace of mind. I'm circumventing this by setting up my own announcing alerts inside of Home Assistant but more alerts are better. The sensors do quickly respond to moisture which is good and they seem to be accurate enough to detect a small drip before it turns into something big as long as you have good intentional placement. Overall it's good I just have a little bit of thoughts on overall build of the sensors. So again a solid 3.5 close to 4 star offer from ThirdReality this time.

These things are great - I'm going to have to buy more sensors!
I am a big Home Assistant user, but I am a newcomer to "Matter". That being said, I got this thing up and running very quickly. Clicking to add a new matter device prompted me to scan a QR code, but there wasn't one. Then I noticed there's a button for additional options. I used that, and realized that since it was next to my phone, it seemed to be communicating directly. Clicking add, it then prompted me to type in a PIN number which is printed on the bottom of the receiver, and from there, Home Assistant took over. The 3 included sensors were already registered to the receiver and showed up immediately in HA. I was able to test each one, so that I knew which one was #1, 2, and 3, and then rename them appropriately within HA, and then was able to create automations to alert me if there's water detected. Now the 3 sensors are under sinks in my bathrooms and I feel I'm better protected! The receiver itself has a LOUD beeper that beeps, regardless of whether home assistant is connected or not, so I am confident that even if HA fails, I'll know immediately that I need to check for leaks. I am reading that you can add additional sensors to the same receiver, so I'm going to buy at least 2 more so I can put one under the sink in the kitchen, and one by the water heater. One thing I'll add is that the instructions just say to "open the cover" to install the batteries. I was looking for screws, or some way to indicate how to open the sensors, but they are just press-fit together, so in one picture you can see that I am just prying the top off. There's a little place to insert a screwdriver tip or a coin at the pointy end of the sensor, and then it becomes obvious. There's a nice rubber gasket in there too! Now I just need to buy one of those automation devices to shut my water main if water is detected!!

Unreliable and disconnect
They continually "disconnect" from the hub and show as "unresponsive" in Alexa. I finally gave up and returned them.

Easy to Set Up and Reliable Leak Detection System
This THIRDREALITY water leak sensor kit is very straightforward to get up and running. Setup is quick and simple, and the app is intuitive and easy to navigate. It also integrates easily with Home Assistant, which adds a lot of flexibility for automations and monitoring if you are already using a smart home system. The included sensors are a good size and easy to place in key areas around the house, making it simple to cover the most important spots where leaks could happen. Overall, this kit provides solid coverage and functionality at a good value, and it is a practical way to add an extra layer of protection against water damage.

Worked, then didn't. Still trying
I have not been able to get these sensors to fully function. At first, the controller was recognized on the system, but the three sensors were not. Then I got all three sensors paired with the controller, but only one of them would set off the controller alarm when water was detected. After much unplugging, reconnecting, reinstalling, resetting, I finally got the controller to recognize the sensors and sound an alarm when any device was triggered with water. The alarm volume is underwhelming, and I likely would not hear it unless I was a very short distance from it. After the one time that the alarm sounded, the detection stopped working and I have not been able to get the controller to recognize or at least alert when one of the sensors detects water. Each individual sensor works and flashes a light when it senses water, but they apparently do not transmit this information to the controller. All three sensors and the controller are recognized and displayed as devices on my Alexa app. However, even when one of the sensors detects water, there is no notification on the Alexa app. The status “no water leak detected” remains unchanged. If they really are being detected on the system, the distance reach is good. One of the sensors is situated two levels down from the controller. I have been working with these sensors for about a month now. They appear to be well made. They even appear to work, except that they do not. I have not given up. I am going to try again to uninstall and disconnect everything and start fresh. I have a couple of areas where I really need these to work. I am envious of some of the reviewers who indicate how well they work. But that does give me hope that I can get these to work. Just not today – I need a break before I try again.

Sensors only alarm at the hub, not at the sensor
I have been using water leak sensors for years and they have saved me from extensive water damage by alerting me quickly. These sensors reside under all of the sinks, the dishwasher, washer, toilets, and the water heater. These are all stand-alone systems that operate by themselves, so I cannot use them for any automations. I ordered these Smart Water Leak Sensors (hub and 3 detectors) from THIRDREALITY, because of my experience with many of their other products and because they integrate with other home automation systems using the Matter protocol. I downloaded their “3R-Installer” app for Android from the Play store, plugged in the hub with the supplied USB-C cable, and added it to the app, where it was recognized right away. Next, I installed 2 AA batteries in each detector, which were already paired with the hub from the factory. Adding this system to Home Assistant, Alexa, and Google via Matter using the app could not have been any easier. The system shows up in Home Assistant as a single device with three sensors. The entities for each sensor are water presence (dry or wet), battery level, and battery voltage. I created an automation for the water heater, to turn off the water inlet if the sensor detects water. This will shut off the water faster than I could ever do it manually if my water heater fails. When testing the detectors, the hub sounds an alarm (if you have the switch ON), and a notification is shown on my phone. In my case, Home Assistant also notifies me. There is no local alarm at the detector itself, like my other detectors have. The probes on the bottom of the detectors are farther apart than my other detectors, so the response is slower to respond because it needs more water to make the connection. One of the three new detectors is much slower to respond than the other two, but it does eventually trigger the alarm. I am happy with being able to be able to integrate these detectors into Home Assistant, and be able to create an automation to close a water valve in the event of a water heater failure, but am a bit concerned about the consistency in quality due to one detector being slower to respond. I feel that each detector should have a speaker for the alarm, not just the hub, that is located elsewhere in the house. Also, for the current price of $39.99, I would have liked for THIRDREALITY to supply the AA batteries for the detectors.
