EveryDrop by Whirlpool Water DBWL2SM1 Portable Water Filter with 1 Replacement Filter, Blue

I’ve needed a simple compact filter for making hotel tap water good enough for coffee. This is small enough. It doesn’t get all the chlorine tap water taste out. But I think it will work enough. I’ve been using a homemade filter with bulk carbon and a 2 liter bottle that cleans all the aftertaste similar to bottled water. But is too big to travel with. I may just bring a little extra carbon with me. I’m sure there are better, slower filters out there that will taste better.

I love this gizmo!!! I had been using my Brita pitcher which became a pain with having to wait for it to fill in order to transfer the water into my Soda Stream bottles for carbonation. I could count on 25-30 minutes to get 6 bottles filled (3 Brita pitchers). With this, I can fill right from the tap to the Soda Stream bottles in under 5 minutes for all 6. It's wonderful. I tested it's filtering capabilities by filling a glass tea kettle, boiling a pot of the EveryDrop filtered water, emptying the pot and letting it air cool overnight to see if there was any residue of lime left behind. I live in a hard water area and lime is a constant problem. No lime on the glass pot. It was totally clear. But, don't let one filter go any longer than 6 weeks if you live in an area like mine. It will stop filtering the lime after that. (I did another test on a well used filter and there were traces of lime build up on my pot.) This is a fabulous item to take on vacations (that hotel water in the bathroom sinks is always dubious), camping (who knows where you'll get water if you're a deep woods hiker/camper), school ... anywhere you think the water is questionable for any reason, including bad pipes. The filters are about the same price as a Brita pitcher's filter, but I think they go less miles than the Brita. I figure I'm paying for convenience. I have found the filters on several sites for reduced prices, some as low as less than half price. So, don't be afraid to get one of these EveryDrops.

I ordered this for our upcoming vacation to the Big Island of Hawai'i. Knowing we were going to need a LOT of water I wanted to use our water bottles instead of having to buy a bunch of water there. This worked perfectly. Filled our water bottles with ice and used this for filtered water everyday. It comes in a case that can also double as a cup. Worked well because we only had a bathroom sink and it wasn't tall enough to hold the water bottles under the faucet. I was able to hold the filter over the water bottles and fill the bottom of the case to pour into the filter. It doesn't weigh much so I could throw it in a backpack if we had needed to bring it for the day. I will definitely be buying a new filter for this when it's time for us to travel.

My purpose for buying this filter was to have something small and convenient to use on road trips. I wanted to love it and just couldn't. The more I tried the more disappointing it became. Used it only a few times before it leaked and then couldn't get it open. Took one last look and pitched it in the trash. Sticking with buying bottled water.

I'm not sure about this item. I bought it for its flexibility and convenience, and though it makes the local water taste better, the water tester shows that there is not only not a lot of difference in the TDS from the water from the faucet just poured through the filter, but in the case of the water from my kitchen faucet, it leave much to be desired.

The filtration system works great and filters fast, but don't store the blue plastic funnel in the fridge because it will grow mold that you can't get rid of. This is why I had to order another one of these.

I love these filters. The blue bottom part does tend to form mildew on the sides, however, which is sad. But the saddest part is now that I have the pitcher and another portable filter, the replacement filters are not available anywhere. What happened?

This has been one of the best purchases for traveling. I’m sure it doesn’t filter as much as my refrigerator filter does because of the speed at which the water passes through. I still would rather have a minimal amount of filtering than just drinking tap water. I drink a lot of water so this is much more economical and convenient than buying bottles of water.
