Great idea
I really want to love this rent. It is such a great idea. I just wish the quality was better. The first time we used this tent, it easily ripped while carefully sliding over our truck shell door. I didn't think this was the end of the world, I own Gorilla Tape but then when we were disassembling the tent, one of the ropes snapped in half on one of the tent poles. The zipper on the door is also not very user friendly and I can see bad things coming from it. I have started a return with Amazon. I would have been happy to have it replaced but that wasn't an option. I did order another one though. I really like this tent, I just wish the quality was better. I'd be happy to pay more for a tent that was more durable. I wanted to update my review after returning my first tent and purchasing a new one; The return process was seamless and so far we've had much better luck with the new one. We used it for the first time this Labor day weekend and it was fantastic. The zipper wasn't an issue with this one and no tears, or defective tent poles this time. I would definitely recommend setting it up with another person though. Also, follow the directions and make sure you square up your vehicle with the tent when backing in. Otherwise, it wont fit properly. I would also suggest buying better tent stakes and a bigger bag to store it in. Other than that, a really cool product.

Attached to Dodge Caravan, but straps broke
First, buy heavier tent stakes. The ones they send are a joke, as usual. As far as set up goes, it's not bad. I'm about 5'7" and relatively fit. I set it up by myself in around 30 minutes the first time. Attaching it to the vehicle was a slight learning curve, but just follow the instructions and it's no big deal. Take down was super easy and it was all packed up in about 15. The floor is nice and then head space is fantastic. I really enjoyed the added space of this tent. I didn't have any problem getting it back in the bag. Just take a second and fold it the right way and it's not a problem. However, first time out camping and one of the straps broke. It's one that attaches the tent to the vehicle (in the wheel well) and one of the rings that holds the tent stakes also broke. I rigged the tent with a bungee chord, but I wasn't crazy about the idea and didn't have much wind to deal with. I emailed the company and haven't heard back yet. I'm hoping they replace the tent or somehow fix this. Update: they offered to fix the tent if I sent it back... which would have had me without a tent for at least a month, likely closer to two. Used it all season. Almost all the ground straps were broken or pulling away, and the tent sort of leaned and sagged by mid season. It was usable but I decided to buy a different style for next season. Light use, is a decent tent... regular use, invest in something better.

I love this tent
2 year Update: I still love this tent. We have used this tent A LOT!! We have used this tent in all types of weather: hot humid days, wind, rain, cold, snow, sleet, everything. It has held up very well. No rips or tears. No problems at all. Upgraded from 4 stars to 5 stars. I love this tent. A lot of good things 2 minor annoying things. On a recent trip to Florida we used this tent in conjunction with our 2013 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. It fit the back of the van perfectly and hooked up nice and snug fairly quickly. It was easy to hook into and unhook when we wanted to go into town or drive somewhere. During our stay there were some massive rain storms with heavy wind. The wind was relentless. The tent had no problems. It stayed put and there were no tears or holes from the pounding. During the rain everything stayed dry and there were no leaks, drips, or condensation on the interior of the tent. It worked perfectly. The only 2 minor things about the tent that need improvement were: the zipper for the front door catches when you try to zip/unzip the tent and the mesh that holds the poles catches the poles making it a little annoying when putting the tent up and taking it down. Overall a great tent. Plenty of interior room with a tall ceiling.

Be gentle when pulling on the black straps to tighten down the tent to the car..
One of the black straps on the driver's side broke off when setting up the tent, so don't be too quick in a hurry or be too aggressive with tying down the straps. The door zipper was getting stuck at times, you just have to be patient and not force it. I did like that it had a built-in floor, but I had added an outdoor carpet for the safety of my air mattress. Overall, I loved it because I was able to have immediate access to my glamping tailgate kitchen. Inside the tent I had a queen size air mattress, a 60qt compressor fridge, a 2000W solar generator, a porta potty, some bins, a shoes & boots area and still had enough room for me to move around. I got complements on my set up. I was basically self-sustained in this little tent. I could have slept in my van as I also have a bed in there, but I chose to sleep in the tent. When you break camp, be sure to sweep out and leave the door unzipped so air can escape in order to fold up tightly and put back in its original bag, it can be done. Update: Year 2 (second time using) broke another strap on the opposite side. Of course a guy did it, they just are too rough. I dunno if they get excited to help out because they were probably looking for something to do. LOL. I guess eventually I have to sew them back on. I also broke a clip because I closed the tailgate on one of them. Not the end of the world but I still enjoy the shelter and privacy it gives me. Everybody wants to check it out! Update: Door zipper broke off. The metal zipper pull broke. It is very soft thin metal. The entire door zipper broke. I don't even know how to fix that. I am unable to close the door. I looked for the vendor to see if I could get some parts for repair but to no avail. Also when I took down the tent, I found my poles were split. I've only used this tent a handful of times. Unfortunately, I had to purchase a new tailgate tent. I went with a different vendor.

Good tent overall, Great customer service
*7/20/2020- one of the longer poles ended up snapping. I didn’t notice this until taking down the tent. Reached out to Rightline’s customer service and they sent out a replacement covered under warranty. They were super great to work with and very fast getting the replacement pole out. 5 stars for customer service changing review to 4 stars instead of 3. Tent worked great this weekend. even rained a little bit and we stayed dry. 06/29/2020 The main issue with this tent was getting the end to insert into the tab for the pole that goes from front to back on the top. I had the tent stretched out as much as I could and made sure that the pole itself wasnt getting hung up in the fabric and it still tore. we have a campout planned this weekend so instead of trying to deal with returning it, I sewed it... There was also a little snag on the front of the tent from factory that will probably end up turning into a hole.. if you purchase this tent be very careful trying to get that pole in. This isnt my first rodeo with a tent and I couldnt believe how hard it was to get that in. other than that the tent is a great size and the rest of the qualify is there for a $300 tent. Looking forward to using it this weekend!

Poor quality and VERY DIFFICULT to put up by one person alone
This tent is a great idea that is very poorly executed using cheap materials. If you are planning to buy and use this tent as a single person, STOP, and go elsewhere. After watching Rightline's instructional videos on YouTube on how to put this tent up, I found that they left out the parts showing the "solo" Rightline Employee STRUGGLING to get the poles in the pockets -- especially the top pole. After 2 full hours of sweating and some very foul language, I finally managed to get the tent up. (Incidentally, after my 2 hour struggle, I took the tent down, took the center pole back out, and had a friend try to put the pole back in by himself. A lot of bad language and, "Why did you buy this thing, you will never get it put up by yourself.") To be honest, due to putting so much tension on the center pole, I was afraid it was going to snap . . . and don't think the two side poles are any easier to deal with. In addition, as noted in other reviews, the "mesh sleeves" for the poles are horrible, I knew this at the time of purchase, however, I can guarantee they will not last over 4 - 5 setups, and they will be completely trashed. The floor is as thin as the walls and will not last unless you put some kind of carpet or rug down over it. The one and only door opens on the top and sides only, the bottom is fully attached, so every time you step in, you catch the bottom and/or step on it, which will also be trashed over a few uses. For the price of this tent, none of these items should be an issue. I am very disappointed and disgusted, and I put it right back in the box for return.

Works well for a Jeep Wrangler with a Gobi rack.
Have only set up once, but did so in approximately 25 minutes. I don't have much tent experience, so the initial setup was slow. I suspect the next time will go at least 1/3 quicker. It fit my 2012 Jeep Wrangler 4 Door with Gobi Rack perfectly. A really nice little camping addition for the rig. It seems well constructed and seals well to the vehicle. There is even enough room to have the tailgate open with a bike on the rack, (have to be careful not to rip the tent when pulling around the bike). I'll be using it next week and will update this review. UPDATED: Quick update...I've been very happy with this product. I've set it up and used it on a number of occasions. I also had occasion to make a warranty claim (with less than a month to go) and received outstanding customer support. Tent is ideal for my use and love that it can be detached from the vehicle and left in place. I had to sections of a support pole snap. In all fairness it was in a thunderstorm and the winds were quite extreme. As mentioned above...Rightline customer service (Brian) was fantastic. The tent goes up fairly easy, (easier with 2 on a windy day). Can easily be detached and re-attached. Keeps the interior of the vehicle and tent quite dry (when used with optional rain fly). All zippers, pulls, and screens have held up sell over a number of uses.

Not perfect, but decent
I do recommend this tent if you have a jeep and kids, but I'm not confident it'll survive a year of actual camping use. I've used this tent on 3 different occasions now. Within a month, I've had two different parts rip: one of the side pole connections, and the netting around the door. As far as use on a jeep, it's amazing! It fits perfectly and I can let the kiddo sleep on top while I sleep down below. Furthermore, I can lock up the and leave the back window open so I can talk to him and see him, while the alarm goes off if he tries to get out. Do yourself a favor: get some better stakes, and a 36" rolling duffel bag to put the whole thing in. You'll never get that thing back into the bag it came and it's not worth bothering with. Also, leave the windows and the doors partially unzipped when you pack it up so you can get all the air out before you fold it.

SUV tent
Absolutely brilliant! Easy to put up. Done in less than an hour! Was expecting it to take so much longer for a first time. Would easily do it in no time now. Can’t recommend highly enough! Wrapped around my f pace easily! Honestly a great buy
