After receiving the faraday bag, I put my cell phone in it and closed it tightly. It was a bit of a pain to close it tightly but I figured it out. My son called me and I left the phone in the bag for about 15 minutes. After I opened the faraday bag, it showed no calls for about 10-15 seconds, or so, then I got notifications of a missed call and voicemail. So it worked great and protected my phone. I heard it is good to keep your car key fob in the bag to keep it from being 'hacked'/copied. I believe this was well worth the price. So, it was fairly easy to use once I figured out how to completely close the bag.

I picked this up primarily as an over-the-neck travel bag. It is designed to hold a passport, a little money, and a phone. It is stitched well and lightweight. It is easy to use, with a flap is folded over and has two clips to keep it closed, and a convenient pocket that can be accessed without opening the flap. But its main selling point is the RF shielding. I know a fair amount about radio frequencies (RF) and how shielding works, so getting this bag was a great opportunity to run some tests and see for myself how well these bags work. I found it to be a quality bag, and it met my expectations as to how well it did (and did not) block RF signals. - The build The build quality is solid: it seems well-stitched and sturdy. It hangs from an adjustable, strong cord with a locking slider. Because it is a round cord and not a flat strap, it is definitely noticeable against the neck. However, the cord attaches via carabiners, and if you have the other type of travel bag, you may be able to swap straps. The bag has two main areas. The main pocket has a conductive lining, and the top folds over and clips shut, making it very difficult for RF to enter or exit. The clips need to be pulled tight to keep it closed. This is where you want to keep active devices like your phone. There is also a zippered front pocket. While both sides of this pocket are lined, they are not necessarily connected electrically: the lining inside the bag doubles as that for the back of the pocket. There is a gap in the lining where the zipper is. This will have a lot less RF reduction and is better for things like RFID cards. - RF testing Modern cell towers and radios have strong transmitters but excel in their ability to receive exceptionally weak signals. Expecting a fabric bag to act like a welded solid-metal box is unrealistic, but I wanted to see just how much this pouch reduced RF. - The RFID Test: I put an RFID hotel room key inside the zippered pocket and tried to read it with an RFID reader. It was not possible to read the card unless I positioned as much of the card under the unshielded zipper as I could. Then, only if I put the reader directly on top of the zipper, and moved it around, was I able to read the card. It might be easier for someone that close to just snip the cord and take the whole bag. Be aware that some newer RFID technologies, such as those used with ski passes, work over longer ranges and might be readable by a person sitting in an adjacent seat, but I did not test that. - The Hotspot Test: I placed a phone in hotspot mode inside the main, folded-over pocket. I could only detect the hotspot network if I placed a second device right on top of the bag. This demonstrates that with enough power and a highly sensitive radio, it is possible to penetrate the bag. But you need to be close. It does show that with enough power and enough sensitivity, signals can pass through the bag and be detected. - The Cellular Test: I rode with a friend while we drove near several cell towers close together. I placed the phone in the bag and it did not ring when a call was placed to it. It is important to note that a phone that cannot hear its home network will listen for and try to connect to ANY network in order to meet the requirement of being able to place a 911 call. The weaker the tower it hears, the higher the power it will use to try to connect. Because modern cell phone have tremendously sensitive radios, it may be possible for a nearby fake cellular "network" to advertise a signal that your phone might hear and try to connect with, revealing its presence and basic information about it. - Assessment This bag works as well as I would expect for any Faraday bag made of conductive cloth. RF engineers who need a true Faraday cage do not use these, but instead use "screen rooms" made with tight conductive wire screen, or metal rooms with solid metal walls, and doors whose entire seam is covered continuously with metal fingers so that any residual gap is exceedingly small and only an tiny amount of the RF signal on one side can pass through to the other. Why, then, buy this (or any other Faraday bag)? Testing made it clear what this bag is actually best used for. - If I am going to a movie theater and want to be doubly sure my phone won't ring even if I forgot to mute it, this will probably work great - If I don't want to receive calls, texts, or IMs for a while, but don't want to bother with fully powering down the phone or closing apps, this works great. - If someone is concerned about a nearby scanner reading RFID cards in a crowded place, this works great as long as the cards are in the main pocket or not under the zipper (and honestly, they probably will not be able to read one anywhere in the zippered pocket). - If someone just wants a nice, sturdy over-the-neck travel bag that happens to have these security features as a bonus, it is going to work great. However, if the goal is to defend against a highly determined adversary who is close by with a sensitive receiver and a lot of power... well, a fabric bag isn't going to cut it. For using it as a casual "RF mute switch", it works well enough.

Powerful Signal Blocker That Fits Multiple Phones (Including Foldables,) I picked up this Faraday bag to protect my digital privacy while traveling, and it’s done just that. It fits my Samsung phones perfectly, even multiple at once, and the signal blocking is 100% effective. Wheels up! flight list... Verified signal blocking: I tested it by calling my phone while it was sealed inside. No ring, no vibration, no connection. It also blocked GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Surprising capacity: It easily fits the phone (or phones depending on where I'm going) and passports too. My wallet already has RFID blocking capabilities, so I don't put credit cards in here. It's not a catch-all drawer for everything. RFID/NFC protection is claimed, but since it blocks the phone perfectly I believe it. Keeps credit cards, licenses, and car key fobs invisible to handheld skimmers and relay theft attempts. I may do the fob thing in the future. Navigating what bag will hold what, so I'm getting a lot of them and seeing what's out there. Neck strap is included, probably won't get too much use, but handy for people who like that kind of thing. Only things I want hanging off my neck are babes. Crash and burn list... Closure method: You need to fold the top over and secure both the magnetic strip and the side buckles. The magnets alone are weak, so don't rely on them. Remember to stop your battery from draining. If you put your phone in without turning on Airplane Mode first, it will be working like a one-legged man in a fanny kicking contest, trying to find a signal through the shield. You'll pull out a dead phone. Nobody wants that bro-bro. Time to land this review... for the price, this is a solid, high-capacity security tool. It’s perfect for international travelers like me who need to protect multiple documents and devices at once. But I'm not a travel-snob. If you're going to San Juan or San Fran you can thwart any airport shenanigans by using this. If you want peace of mind against digital pickpockets or relay theft, this is a highly recommended addition to your gear. Highly recommend... enjoy!
