I purchased this replacement side door, or side cover, for my GoPro Hero 9. Although it is primarily marketed for the Hero 4K model, it serves its purpose quite well as an accessory. This USB door attaches very securely to the camera, allowing me to charge the device or connect it to other peripherals without having to remove the battery cover. This feature proves extremely useful when I need to maintain a continuous power supply to the camera during extended video recording sessions, without the need to swap batteries or expose the camera's internal components. Its plastic construction is both lightweight and sturdy. It does not feel cheap or flimsy; moreover, the materials used are quite effective at dissipating heat during operation. Opening and closing the door requires no tools, and it operates very smoothly without any sticking or difficulty. However, it is essential to be aware of one significant limitation: using this battery door compromises the camera's waterproof capabilities. While the Hero 9 remains waterproof when fitted with its original door, that protection is lost when this USB pass-through door is installed. If you plan to use the camera near water or in wet environments, this may not be the right choice for you. However, for indoor activities, such as vlogging, conducting interviews, time-lapse photography, or any extended recording sessions where a continuous power connection is required, this limitation is certainly a manageable trade-off. All in all, this is a highly practical replacement door that facilitates charging the camera during prolonged use; however, a crucial point to remember is that the camera loses its waterproof integrity while this door is attached.

I have had this GoPro Hero for some time and the battery always ran out around the one hour mark, so I always needed a power bank. I use this primarily to record tennis videos. To use the power bank I had to open the battery compartment and leave it open. As the GoPro is water sealed, it did not have a slot to insert the USB-C port. The idea that a ball might hit it directly and the SD card might fall out and damage itself always bothered and worried me (not the battery, as a replacement battery is better than lost data). Luckily that didn’t happen and even if it did now, I would not be worried about that specific issue at the least. This fits perfectly, it locks and opens without any issues. The slot for the usb really makes life so easy, as it keeps everything in the battery compartment secured but be able to charge at the same time. Though it takes away the GoPro’s waterproofness, that is not an issue I have to deal with so I am very happy with this.
