- Mighty Magnolia

As you read this story about Magnolia June, you are brought into the world of a wondrous first grader on her first day of school. Magnolia June has left kindergarten behind and has the noblest of intentions to help this year's kindergartners to get through their own first day anxieties. Instead she is unexpectedly faced with a few anxieties of her own. Magnolia along with her friend Hazel encounter Simone, who mocks the girls and ultimately Magnolia's name. Magnolia's first day is changed by the reality that some people are just not kind. Not to fear though, Magnolia has good parents who take her to the park and explain her namesake, restoring her confidence and giving her the skills she will need to be the Mighty Magnolia she was meant to be. This is a touching glimpse of life through the innocence of a young girl. It inspires us all to be Mighty Magnolias.

This is a sweet story about a little girl excited to go to first grade! She has her new friends and looks forward to seeing them and being a big helper to the kindergarteners. As in real life, things don't all go as planned. Kids are not always nice to each other but in the end, all is well and it shows that family is always there for you. A beautiful example of how sharing your feelings with your family makes things better!! Such a sweet explanation of how special a child's name is and what it means to the parents!! Loved it! Can't wait to share it with my first grade granddaughter!!

Maggie will touch your heart as you read about her anticipated 1st day of school and how an insensitive classmate hurt her tender feelings. Great little story to open up a conversation about words and being kind to others with your little one as they navigate their school days. Mary M

This book is so sweet, it’s the perfect mix of education and excitement! Mighty Magnolia will immediately capture your attention as it tells the story of a little girl getting ready for her first day of school while teaching about some difficult obstacles she encounters. It’s fun and educational as it teaches some wonderful lessons throughout! This book also highlights some of New Orleans charm. A truly wonderful book to read! I highly recommend it!

What a sweet book! This story takes you along with Magnolia as she encounters her ,”first day of school” adventures. From the bus ride to meeting new friends and the warmth of a loving family. Unique and fun references to New Orleans as well I sent copies out to my own Grands.
