For dummies and beyond
This book is really valuable for anyone wanting to understand medical terminology. Despite the word "Dummies" in the title it is not overly basic. It has proved invaluable for medical students, especially those in the first and second years who are struggling to learn what is almost of new language. It may not be a "recommended text book" but for students of medicine, nursing and other professions allied to medicine it is well worth purchasing at the start of the course.

Medical terminations close at hand.
I have decided to learn medical terminology. This book will help me to understand how a word was made up - root etc. Started to start reading this book.

Quite interesting
The thing I like about this book is the fact that there is a lot of anatomy mentioned rather than it just being a list of medical terminology. But it definitely isn't for dummies, I think perhaps some background of biology is helpful. The reason I gave it 4 stars is I think it could have come with more pictures to illustrate what it's saying about the structure of some body parts.

Well written, however American book
I purchased this book to help me to study a BSMSA Medical Terminology course. Whilst I find this book very well written and interesting to read this book is American which means that not all the terminology matches British medical terminology. I can read all about the body systems but with regards to medical terms I don't rely on these in the book because they might but might not be right. So if you do study Medical Terminology course in Britain be aware this book is not British.

This book has been more helpful to me than anything in the uni so far.
As someone who had never really done anything scientific before in his life, I was scared to start my nursing course with no knowledge of medicine or the healthcare setting. However, I bought this book a year and a half ago and still think back to it while doing the work for the course, or out on placement. It's a great place to start if you plan to work in the healthcare setting, I'd definitely recommend it.

Recommended for health professionals and the patients.
This book is great for many types of health professional but is also great if you have health problems and want to keep up with the information that you are being given. I believe that there is an updated book now that would probably be a better buy.

Perfect!
This book is wonderful for learning Medical Terminology. It was my first For Dummies book, but it certainly won't be my last. The best way I could describe it is that it's like learning a class you're not interested in, by a teacher who is great and tries to make learning fun. This book gave me the confidence to sign up for an online course that I wasn't sure I could take on until I read it.

Medical Transcription Editor
While I'm receiving top notch vocational training accepted by the ADHI From CareerStep, I have gotten to be what has been the most challenging course so far. I also know who vital it is in my research to this field to be able understand medical terminology. The faster you understand a word, the least likely you are to have to look it up and stop dictation and the entire workflow of Medical Transcription Editing. So this is as vital as being handy with a keyboard. I was understanding the online training fine. But I felt it would be helpful to get a back up. I looked at many books. Most were frankly intimidating. So I settled for this one. I am a novice stepping into a new world. So I ordered the edition of Medical Terminology For Dummies for my Kindle Fire HD and to be recalled on Kindle PC if I ever needed too Medical Terminology For Dummies . While purchasing this item I saw one other item that caught my eye as a possible good item to have for study. Especially for the last test of certification! This item to anyone buying this book for perhaps a class on introductory medical terminology was this: Medical Terminology:The Basics (Quick Study Academic)

Dummies!
The book arrived within a few days of ordering, in one piece, with no missing pages. It was exactly as described, a book from the book for dummies series on medical terminology. As it had no missing pages, and it looked like it had never been opened, I assume it was new, just like the ad had stated. Overall, the order showed up without any problems. I entered my info on my computer, and it showed up at my door. Thanks!

Very Good for someone just starting - (and not in the Medical Field)
I bought this book to get a basic understanding of Medical Terminology. I work in the Medical Field - but I don't directly with patients or in situations in which alot of medical terminology is used. Because I work in a medical setting (analysis work and help desk support) some medical terminology is needed for my job. I bought this and got me ready to take the basic medical terminology test for my place of employment. It is alot of pages on a Kindle but worth it because it is written in easy to understand language for people who may just want to learn some medical terminology for their own personal use without having to feel as though they are at a disadvantage because they have no medical background or training.
