The Au Natural futon mattress is hand-stuffed with 100-percent cotton batting and is ideal for individuals who prefer a very firm comfort level. This mattress is available in several non-removable casings colors to fit any decor. We use the heaviest and most durable cotton/poly twill outer shell; seams will not split and tuft holes will not "grow". The Au Natural futon mattress is hand-stuffed providing individual attention to detail that guarantees that each layer is even and without lumps or tears. Edges are hand-wrapped to make sure that the edges have the same layers as the middle which is particularly important for straight stable edges and comfortably sitting. We zipper close to avoid machine stitched cording which is both uncomfortable and unattractive. We carefully tuft the layers with 23 nylon tufts (more than anybody) that won't break so the layers do not shift and the Au Natural feel is consistently smooth. Our corners are softly squared edges to create a smooth finish look. Sleeping area dimensions: full-size 54" by 75", queen-size 60" by 80", twin-size 39" by 75".

firm stable mattress
I have been researching and looking for a nice floor mattress. Finally, this is the one.I have had a tempurpedic mattress for 4 years. After I got neck/shoulder pain a year ago (unrelated to the mattress), I could not sleep on that memory foam mattress because my body sunk down more than neck/shoulder and stretched neck/shoulder unnaturally. I started sleeping on a thin futon mattress on the floor. At least, I could sleep and rest without pain on the floor mattress. My husband also complained about the memory foam mattress that he cannot turn his body without lifting his lower back. But, he does not like sleeping on the thin floor mattress. It’s too hard for him. This mattress is somewhat between a thin floor mattress and a regular mattress for us. It's not too hard. It's not floppy at all once laid on the floor well. It does not sink my body unnaturally. This supports my body stable during sleeping, and I can turn around easily. I don’t feel anything when my husband tossing and turning.Size: king size. It might measure 2-4 inches smaller due to rounded corner. King size fitted mattress cover fits very well.Thickness: 7-8in when it’s puffed. 5in when we lay down.Weight: ~ 100lb per discerption. It feels heavier than a heavier tempurpedic mattress when moving it up because it’s not in a ridge frame. My husband and I struggled so much to move it to the 2nd floor. I worried a lot about how to return if it did not work for us. Now, we like it, so we don’t need to return. I wish it’s 1-2 in thinner to make it lighter though.Smell: Yes, there is some smell like pulp. It was strong on 1st day, then it’s almost gone on 4th day. It does not have chemical gasoline smell.Contacting the seller: Before I purchased it, I really wanted to ask questions to the seller. There was no information how to contact the seller. Since I like it, I don’t have any problem now. However, if I did not like it, I would be so upset to handle returning of this heavy mattress.Packaging: It was tightly wrapped with industrial packaging ropes, then packaged in a plastic bag and a box. We unpacked very carefully so that we could return it in the same packaging. However, I don’t think we could really pack it tightly again to fit it in the box again. Again, return might be a headache.

It was like a miracle cure
I have had chronic back pain for the last few years. I have spent thousands of dollars getting physical therapy, massages and chiropractic work. Then I took a trip overseas and slept on these really hard cotton mattresses, and my back pain went away for the most part. It was like a miracle cure. Sleeping on such a hard surface takes some getting used to... but the relief of pain was worth it. So went I got back home to the U.S. where I was sleeping on a foam mattress (which I bought on Amazon 2 years ago -- the writeup said it was like a tempurpedic but a lot cheaper), my back pain returned. I took off that mattress, and put on a futon mattress from the guest room. That helped my back, but was not as good and hard as the ones I slept on overseas. So I bought the epic furnishings au natural 8" loft... I really had high hopes, but the mattress is not stuffed enough with cotton to make it really hard, so my back pain has returned. It is not as severe as when I was sleeping on the foam mattress however. So I am a little disappointed that it didn't solve my problem. The quality of mattress is good, it was packaged well, there was no smell after opening it. But if you are looking for a super hard mattress, like I was, this isn't it.

I LOVE this mattress! 5 stars
I LOVE this mattress (futon)! So, the best sleep I've ever had in my life was earned during my four years at a low cost boarding school when I was a teenager. The beds that were provided for students were simply plywood panels on top of 2x4 stump legs. Simple and crude, probably built by the original all-male students who attended in the 1960s. On top of these plywood bed frames were prison mattresses = cotton filled sacks, essentially. I am not lying when I say, or when my old classmates say, we got the BEST sleep of our lives there. For over a decade now, I have had trouble sleeping. Spring mattresses are so bouncy and jiggle me awake at every movement, foam mattresses suck me in like wet sand and leave my spine out of alignment and throbbing in my low back. Seriously, for 5+ years, my lower back has throbbed with inflammation every single day and all night long, leaving me tossing and turning and entirely miserable for years. This is a direct result of sleeping on memory foam for over a year, which I now loathe with a searing passion.Out of desperation, and my husband being a willing sport, I ordered this 'cheap' mattress option to plunk onto our wood Sam Levitz bedfarme. I have a thin gel mattress pad on my half for extra cushion, and I am finally sleeping again. I have begun dreaming for the first time in years, probably due to uninterrupted sleep cycles starting up again. My back throbbing? Gone for now, after about 3 weeks. I can't believe it. Fingers crossed this continues. On the negative side - using this mattress has now made my husbands back begin to throb. He wants to try more memory foam since he was happy with that. Bah.So, now, I wonder why society ever got away from individual twin beds, where each person could have something that worked for them. Forcing two people of different weights, different body types and heights, different bone structures to sleep on the same bed seems so silly to me. I envy my Grandma and Grandpa who had years of blissful sleep on their twin beds that sat across the room from each other. Mind you, they had 7 children during their marriage, so no problems in that department. ;)I love that this futon mattress is stuffed with cotton and not some human-made foam that smells like it came out of a chemical pool. The seams appear to be sturdy, I don't know why we'd ever unzip the thing like some people try to do. It fits well on our king sized bed frame, but it is a few inches short. Probably about 5-6 inches short. That's not a huge deal if you center it the way you want. Who cares if toes dangle off an inch or two?If my husband can't figure out a way to get comfortable on this mattress, then we'll probably have to go with a sleep number bed, which neither of us want to do. We both hate the thought of having yet another thing in our house that has to remain plugged in forever to function. Not my bag, I'm so tired of technology and cords everywhere.Wish us luck with this mattress - if you have any suggestions of how we might both be able to get comfortable on the same bed, let me know with a comment. Thanks!

Worse mattress ever. Do not buy this product.
This literally is the worse mattress I've ever owned and slept on. Within just a few months the inner filling shifted so much that it feels like my partner and I are sleeping on mountain ranges. There are big ridges going through the mattress and even bigger dips. We've flipped the mattress so many times to try and even things out but as the days went by it got worse and worse causing us both bad pain in our bodies. From headaches to lower back pain and everything in between. While I like the idea of the filling being cotton, there's seems to be nothing in place that prevents it from shifting around. A total waste of money.
